I think we always take it harder when it is one of our pets. My current cat, Minnie Mouth (half Siamese, half Norwegian Forest Cat but has all of the Siamese features - including that delightful strident voice that commands attention and fealty), is 18 later this month and starting to show her age. Did hold her right at birth as I did her half-brother. Same Momma, different father. He was 25 lbs of sheer joy and love. He and his Momma now reside on a corner of the breakfast table where I do talk to them every morning. Minnie comes and goes with comments till I pay her her due attention.
So glad that you have new kittens so soon to fill that gap we all have when a beloved pet leaves us to go ahead to the Rainbow Bridge where I'm sure we will see them again."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

Very sad news Jerry.
I think most of us know what you're going through and how very hard it is. Hopefully the new little kittens will bring a little happiness back into everyones lives.

I've never had a pet/friend that long, I imagine it's a hard loss.
Buried my dog on a mountain top, he was 4, no way of getting him to the vet. That was a lonely summer with the cattle that year, the last year. Decided that day to move to the city!
Ugh! Losing a loved one will make you do crazy things.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Good to know there are the kittens, they sure do brighten things up!“You must unlearn what you have learned.”

Thanked: 563We lost Sam, our golden retriever, about 2 years ago at age 14. Felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest.
We now have 9-month old Gil who has been able to fill the void and our hearts.
It hurts and then it gets better. That’s all I can offer.David

Many people try to keep their pets alive for their sake not the pets.
I think that you made the right decision.

That's a tough one, Jerry. Even though it was heartbreaking for you,
take comfort in knowing that for them, it was an act of mercy.

Oh man Jerry - so sorry to hear that you had to make the terrible decision all we pet folks dread. May you have many, many happy memories.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
