A Request Throughout the Nation for Shooting Buddies
It seems to get easier and easier to check my handguns in my baggage, so I am taking them with me more often when I travel so that on my off time I can go shooting. I do have a passion for the ability to go shooting outdoors and kill some cans and bottles or wood planks (no place around me where I can do that), but shooting ranges work too.
If you like to go shooting, especially outdoors, and you know of a place in any state where you think I should check out (I travel nationally every week), please post it here.
Additionally, if you would like to get together and go shooting next time I am down your way, let me know that too. Only tell me you want to go shooting if you really mean it, because you may be getting a call from me in a week or even a year if I am going to be down your way lol!
Regardless, if you know of a really good range near you especially and outdoor one, or the woods where I wont get arrested for shooting at some cans, please let me know. The local laws differ so much from town to town and I would hate to piss anyone off.
Thanks!

Look out people, Josh is coming to your door with a gun in his hand and an itchy trigger-finger

It's just that I never think about that stuff. The largest one in my rotation is 13/16, with rubber scales and plenty of pitting. Most of my other razors are 5/8 singers.
Now let's re-visit that term "Shooting Buddies"... Which role would they have in the shooting process.. Shooter or target?

Thanked: 369Josh,
If you're ever in the Los Angeles area, there is a great outdoor range off of the 210 fwy, the San Gabriel Valley Shooting Club range. Both pistol and long distance (up to 2000 yards or more I think) plus trap range. I think it's about $7.00 (+ $1.00 refundable target frame fee as long as you return it intact) on weekends and no time limit.
Then, of course there is the Los Angeles gun club...

Houston
In Houston, I don't know of anywhere to do the cans but there are three good ranges.
(1) American Shooting Center (outdoors and also has skeet/trap range)
(2) Phil Oxley's Impact Zone (usually go with a member but not a bad place)
(3) Top Gun (indoor range, lots of training classes in the evening)
Texas is pretty good about handguns. So what do you travel with?
Also, Houston is the home base for Comp-Tac Holsters and also Brian Hoffner's Holsters. Both Greg (owner of Comp-Tac and Brian (owner of Hoffner's) shoot and conduct classes at Top Gun.Last edited by shavingsamurai; 08-23-2007 at 12:02 PM. Reason: add

Thanked: 0Well hell..
If you are in the DFW Metroplex, and preferably on the *right* side of the Trinity (that would be the Fort Worth side) - I would be more than happy to go shooting, as I rarely have to have an excuse to do that...
We have two outdoor ranges nearby, and a slew of indoor ranges too that I haunt. Nothing spectacular, one outdoor range is positively rustic, the other is big and overused, all are fun and a good place to spend $100 in bullets.
SO shoot me a PM or e-mail and we can head out.
