If you should end up in the southern San Francisco bay area then check out the Los Altos Rod and Gun Club range(www.losaltosrodandgunclub.com). I work there a couple Sundays each month. Fyi, from October through April bring cold/wet weather clothing as the weather can be unpredictable.

P.S. Good luck with the surgery.

There is supposed to be an outdoor range in Arcadia, OK, which is a little east of Edmond, still in the OKC Metro. There is a great indoor pistol & rifle range (H&H Gun Range, http://www.hhgunrange.com/) just a few miles from the airport. There are two outdoor ranges in Shawnee, which is about an hour east of OKC. One used to be members only, but the other (Shoot-N-Iron, http://www.shoot-n-iron.com/) is where most of the IPSC shoots took place.

We have a fair amount of it... it just seems like it's getting harder to find places to shoot/hunt unless you or your family own the land. My grandfather had 160 acres (1/2 mile x 1/2 mile) and we used to shoot there all the time. After he died it was divided up between the three kids. My parents got the part that doesn't have a good backstop anywhere. Go figure.

Houston
In Houston, I don't know of anywhere to do the cans but there are three good ranges.
(1) American Shooting Center (outdoors and also has skeet/trap range)
(2) Phil Oxley's Impact Zone (usually go with a member but not a bad place)
(3) Top Gun (indoor range, lots of training classes in the evening)
Texas is pretty good about handguns. So what do you travel with?
Also, Houston is the home base for Comp-Tac Holsters and also Brian Hoffner's Holsters. Both Greg (owner of Comp-Tac and Brian (owner of Hoffner's) shoot and conduct classes at Top Gun.Last edited by shavingsamurai; 08-23-2007 at 12:02 PM. Reason: add

Thanked: 0Well hell..
If you are in the DFW Metroplex, and preferably on the *right* side of the Trinity (that would be the Fort Worth side) - I would be more than happy to go shooting, as I rarely have to have an excuse to do that...
We have two outdoor ranges nearby, and a slew of indoor ranges too that I haunt. Nothing spectacular, one outdoor range is positively rustic, the other is big and overused, all are fun and a good place to spend $100 in bullets.
SO shoot me a PM or e-mail and we can head out.

If you're ever in the south, there is one near me in the upstate of SC. It's nothing fancy, just a state Dept. of Natural Resources outdoor range. But while it's out in the sticks, it's easy to get to and is free, and well-maintained. Covered benches at the rifle range, I don't know about the pistol range (I don't have a handgun yet, just long guns).

Thanked: 150Okay, No one from Denver has chimed in yet.
If you ever get to the mile high city, there is a great range in Cherry Creek State Park, (which is literally right across the street from me) which accommodates pistols, rifles, and shotguns. There are ATA trap ranges, throw your own trap ranges, and a pattern board for shotguns. you have to pay a park entrance fee, and the range fee, but (not including ammo) you can get out of there for about $20.
Let me know if you are ever in the thin air of 1 mile above sea level.

Ain't that the truth about the driving.
Even in Florida you can pick out the Michiganders on the road.
It's the white dude doing 52 in a 35 in a rusty car !
Even on 75 you can tell when you cross from Ohio into MI (and not just cause the roads go to shit) because traffic goes from 75 to around 90-ish
Last time the wife and I were in Detroit she kept asking why everyone was going so fast.
My reply?
Shrug " I don't know" vvvrrrrooooooommmm !!!!
Reminds me of a Yoopers song.
I'll spell the accent as best you can (think Fin from Canada)
to the tune of "dashing through the snow"
Dashin true da snow
in my rusty Chevrolay
down da road I go
sliding all da way
I need new piston rings
I need some new snow tires
My car is held togeder by a piece a chicken wire
Chorus
Oh rust an smoke
da heaters broke
da door just flew away
I light a match to see da dash and den I start to pray eh
da frame is bent, da muffler went, da radio it's ok
oh watt fun it is to drive dis rusty chevrolay!!
