It happened again!
Third time in two years.
Even though my semi truck is 80 feet long and 12 foot tall, some people still cant see me.
In a construction zone, two lanes moving in the same direction but at idle speeds. The right lane must merge into the left lane as orange barrels are set up in the right lane forcing the merge.
Some idiot run up to the very end where the barrels are blocking then tried to moving to his left into the side step of my truck. He never made it past me and got a bit crunched. My step got bent a little but it was easy enough to bent the aluminum step back.
Cops gave him the ticket after they called for an interpitor as he was from the sandy east some where. They blocked traffic and let me go. My boss thinks i have an idiot magnet on my truck somewhere. Im starting to wonder myself.
So i got home and had a relaxing shower and shave. Going to bed early because of the stress.
I know we have good folks here. Just remember the big truck doesnt move much when you hit it.
Bit of orange cream and a shorty.

My 16 year old grandaughter is enrolled in Drivers ED and it's just about a block from The Boars Nest
I'd taken some of my home made bacon to her mom for the family to try and I asked for corrective criticisms.
Anyway my daughter was telling me about how my granddaughter was doing and some of the 'Helpful Hints' she'd given her (My daughter started 'driving' on my lap when she was 6 and was able to drive my Toyota Pickup by herself at the age of 8)
I was giving her some of the advice that I thought she might have forgotten such as how to use the center of the hood to judge where the right hand tire was, and how at night on a country road when you are approaching a corner how to know if there is an oncoming vehicle (their lights shine on the power cables up on the poles).
But I think the most important advice I retold her today is something that is in pain sight many times on a semi truck's trailer's bumper and that is:
If you can't see the driver in his left hand side mirror----He can't see YOU!
With all that said, you just can't cure stupidity--

Thanked: 556I guess when you put as much time and miles on the road as you truckers do, it just increases the odds of meeting an idiot or distracted driver. Just glad you and the other guy are ok.
I witnessed a guy in a corvette trying to merge onto hiway traffic. He sped up and ended up right underneath the trailer of a semi. Wedged himself in real good. He was fortunate that it was rush hour and traffic wasn’t going that fast. While the police officer was taking witness statements, I could see that he could not figure out how the guy could not have seen the truck.David

I stretched than length a bit. I drive a wee little truck of only 70 ft long. Some days it feels like 200ft.
The long view...

Wow, Jerry, it's like deja vu all over again with these idiots trying to squeeze around you. Be careful out there. (I like the Stirling soap-been too long since I had some; I might have to get on their website).
There are many roads to sharp.

That 1203 placard should make them give you a little extra room.
To show how boring my life has been or can be I like reading the numbers and wondering what is in that truck........

I can help you out with that. I have to carry certain info with me at all times. One little book is called the Emergency Response Guidebook. BUT, I found it as a free download to my phone. So its a matter of open the app and enter the 4 digit code and it will tell you more than you want to know. "ERG 2016" is the app.
PM headed your way A-Aron.
I'm not sure why people make the decisions they make when traveling around big trucks. Even if it's just a flatbed. I guess I will never understand and keep driving and hope I never kill anyone or myself. It's just Sharpening, right?
