The beaches, parks, and hiking trails in Oregon were crowded this weekend. Our beach towns have a high percentage of older people, and there are limited medical facilities, and several small town mayors finally closed their towns and beaches to tourists. There is a beautiful bike/walking trail near my house that was too crowded for me to walk my dogs. I felt like wearing a sign, "I'm over 70, please observe social distancing." Our largest medical complex with a medical school has asked for people who sew to consider sewing face masks, as they were nearly out. Staff were asked to wear the same mask all day and to rinse it out in between patients seen. It's hard to believe how unprepared we are. We don't have a national coordinated health care system, nor do each individual state. The states have been left to fend for themselves, trying to find supplies and put things together on the fly.

Thanked: 2284Hey guys.
Just wanted to stop in and say, stay healthy! Things are getting crazy. Our provincial leader has just shut down all non-essential businesses today. \I believe it's for a duration of 14 business days, and will be extended further if need be. I informed my boss this past weekend that I would not be coming into work this week, because the amount of new cases was continually rising, and I didn't want to be part of the problem going in and out of random peoples homes. ( I work for a general contractor.)
Hope all is well with all of you, and again wish you guys the best of health.Burls, Girls, and all things that Swirl....

Hey - my son is in the JAC as an Electrical Apprentice, more than half way through his pre-apprenticeship at a massive building site in downtown Toronto where they put him, they've had some people take a voluntary 2 week recusal, but no word on them completely shutting down, hard to believe this massive site it still going on.
My son is thinking of taking two weeks as well, as this week is going to be a real ball breaker in terms of next steps this virus takes.
Stay safe brother....

Thanked: 3223Good to hear that you are alive and well Andrew. Just found out our dear leader will shut down all non essential services as of Tuesday 11.59 AM. Wouldn't you know it, just got a call that the part for repairing our refrigerator is in and they will come to the house and repair it Wednesday. It might turn out to be one of those moments. You and yours stay healthy.

If you have an infrared thermometer take his temp before you let the service man in the door. (That is what they are doing at the hospitals around here.)
Seriously he is probably worried more about you giving it to him and the possible lawsuit that you might bring against him for bringing it into your home.

Thanked: 3223No got thermometer and he is more worried about us giving it to him considering the question he asked before coming out to check the fridge out in the first place.
Now the local Indian Reserve which borders on the city is going to close to all but reserve residents and those non residents who work on the reserve. That will cut off some cheap supplies, won't mention what, for most non residents.
