Thanked: 3227The Canada US border land border has been closed to non essential traffic for months now with few exceptions such as visiting family in Canada but only after doing a 14 day quarantine on arrival in Canada. Canadians returning home from abroad and visitors from overseas are subject to the same rules too. So, no it is not targeting just Americans.
Our tourism is down drastically from the US and the rest of the world too. It is the price you have to pay not to have the Covid 19 infection and death rates the US now has. If you don't pay the fine you may not be able to return to Canada in the future anyway.

Thanked: 556My sense from the reporting is that the big fines or nasty warnings have only been applied to folks who repeatedly disobeyed the self isolation requirement or lied to Canadian border officers about passing through BC on their way to Alaska. Those are folks who I'd prefer not come back north of the order.

At the risk of stiring up some real trouble for myself.
I live in SW Ontario just 30 minutes from Detroit.
I for one am relieved that Mr Trumps 170,000 covid deaths + 2.3 million covid cases are being kept out of Ontario.- - Steve

Thanked: 3227Yes, this is a pandemic and some countries are coping better than others. Seems the US is not coping that well and it occurred on Mr. Trumps watch so he should get the credit for the efforts taken to contain it.

Thanked: 49The silent majority (not the media controlled by the left) thinks he has done a great job. Staying closed is worse in my and many other opinions. Time will tell. But I have a feeling that after the November election things will be much better regarding covid. The type of lockdown some people think we need is unconstitutional imo. But if your scared and feel like the sky is falling then stay inside! But let the rest of us go out. The waters fine! Jump right in.
