Thanked: 3227Yup, I recall from High School that experiment to see if there was the possibility that concentration camp guard candidates could be found in the US. Never forgot that the answer was that you could.

Boy we're going way adrift nowBut the fact of the matter is it's real easy to say what you would and would not do and firmly believe it. The reality of it is sometimes very different though. My business can be very dangerous sometimes because of the nature of it. People want to drag you into the middle of their disputes and don't seem to mind using you as a human shield. There was one time that I actually really thought I was going to have to shoot a guy to defend myself and it scared me to death. People say oh I would have shot his ass. Yeah, let's see what you do when you get in that situation. The fact of the matter is you don't ever know until you're there. That's why military training is so intense on conditioning you to react to specific way.
I've known hunters that spent hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars on gear and a rifle and club membership and then got a deer in their sights and couldn't pull the trigger. add on top of that that we're not talking about a furry animal, we're talking about a human life. Still this is even an aside to the point I was making which is we are more impressionable than we think and we sometimes surprise ourselves what we will or will not do.Iron by iron is sharpened, And a man sharpens the face of his friend. Har har, if you be a hunter and can't pull the trigger on bambi you are no hunter.
I remember in my LE training many years ago the fact that many LE officers simple can't pull the trigger on a human or will hesitate while many more relish the thought and wish to be involved in incidents like that. In time many who find themselves in those circumstances react in ways seemingly unfathomable.
No one knows how they will react to a critical incident (talking the general public here) until they are tested. Most never will be but if you are, wishing and hoping and "training" will not prepare you. It's an inner thing some have and most don't.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Well I suppose I should say would be hunters. I've seen it more than once. As far as taking a human life I think it's a good thing to not want to. If you want to then that puts you in the category with people like Ted Bundy and John Wayne gacy. Potentially so at least. I will say though that for that moment when I have pulled the trigger and that animal is in the throes of death I feel compassion for it. It would worry me if you don't feel compassion for an animal that you're killing. That's another life that you're taking and it should not be done without consideration.

Thanked: 580Yeah, but I'm not sure in what context you are using the term.
There are "dark men" in every walk of life, not just in places of power, or in foreign countries.
