Thread: Veteran's Day

Lest we forget. The glorious dead whom gave their lives so we could live ours.

I pray for everyone who has been affected by wars.

My thanks and gratitude to all who have and will serve.







I hope all will enjoy this.

Also remembering my dad and all those that served.

A big, very grateful "THANK YOU' to all veterans who have sacrificed so much for us and the country!

Mt father served, as did my grandfather, and some uncles, and great father. There have been a lot. A lot outside of my family as well. One of the things that strikes me, is that in Canada many First Nations served. In order to serve, at that time, the were required to forfeit there status. By doing so, even after the war, they could never again live on a reservation, and no longer would be considered to be a part of their heritage. Still they served. So many gave, and continue to give so much. Every year I take this day to pray for peace and understanding of our fellow humans.

It’s amazing how many young men joined up underage. My grandad fought in the trenches in the First World War. When he went to join up at the local village hall the recruiting sergeant asked him his age. When he told the sergeant he was only 15 he was told “you have to be 18 to fight. Back of the line and try again”
When my Grandad got back to the front of the line again the same sergeant asked him, “how old are you now, son?”
They accepted his new age and he went away to fight.

Incredible generation.
