A rifle in .223 or 7.62x39 is a good farm gun

Do you have neighbors? Do you need to be quiet as possible?

    Justin
There is about an acre or two between each house. Quiet would be nice but not absolutely essential! Still, I'd rather not bother my neighbors.

The "boys" don't bother me... it's the frigging leftist movement there has gone way to far.

I'm not a right is right type ether, I don't like the extreamist anything movements we seem to have these days. San Francisco has banned just about everything from the city, now it's going after the food industies backbone... imigrents, like it or not 70% of the restraunt industry is imigrent workers. Not to mention who picks the food in the first place....

Bah don't get me started on that freakshow of a city.....

My questions are: what are your takes on the stats I provided, and what gun do you advise to keep coyotes at bay?
Couldn't answer what gun, but we should be careful of raw stats. Let's take the one above.

Since outlawing the ownership of guns... OK, that means merely possessing one is now illegal and a crime.

Gun-related crime has nearly doubled... yep, that makes sense. All those people owning guns before who committed no crime but who have decided to hold onto them are now breaking the law. So yeah, I can see how that stat works.

What it does not mean is that violent gun crime has increased two-fold by de facto.

However, violent gun crime is definitely on the rise in the UK. But only last night the BBC were reporting how skewed the media's reporting is on this. Sure, it's increasing, but the real problem is the rate of knife crime which now outstrips gun crime 3-to-1. There were about 3000 cases of gun crime last year and 9000 of knife crime. The latter is a big problem now, which the politicians are getting their knickers in a twist over. Kids as young as 7 or 8 are carrying knives and using them in playground disputes sometimes!

Still, although the proportions might be alarming, I think the numbers are still quite low. 3000 cases of gun crime over the period of a year in the entire population of England (not UK). In real terms, I think that's small in comparison to other nations.

The media reporting on how skewed their own reporting is, thats a laugh! Better find out what they're agenda is! most media are pretty biased! no objectivity!
Since I am not in England and I only heard it last night without a chance to look into it any farther I won't argue. But it is noted in several places in America that violent gun crime and robberies plummet when its legal to carry your weapon in public! Arizona and Utah are the specific areas I am talking about, so it stands to reason that if the citizenry is not allowed to own guns that they would be ripe for the picking!

BBC News is about the only reliable news source left and its no coincidence that its one of very few not owned by Mr Murdoch.
