I hit one low and unmarked like that one when I went to do a U turn in an closed gas station.
White and snow I didn't see it until it was to late.
I didn't complain or do anything because I did more damage to the chain than my truck.

Got my first jab today and it was Moderna. The whole process was well organized and the staff very friendly. Had to wait 15 minutes before they would let you go after the jab. Never felt the needle and so far no pain in the arm or anything else.
Bob
Good to hear, Bob. You're one step closer to better off. IMO that is. Some folks are just.... I will leave it alone. Everyone has an opinion.
I’m surprised how many are not signed up already TBH.
Think I’m the only one in my plant that’s had the jab.
Others are ,ooh I’m not sure, and maybe if 70% get it I won’t have too, shit like that.
All fear, no facts, make a decision people. Cause if we don’t all get the jab, this won’t end. And if it is all political, let’s all get the jab to eliminate that as a reason why they still keep us locked down.
Force them to come up with a new variable, if that your thinking.
:hmmm:
My biggest worry is that there won't be any Moderna left and no more will arrive for our second shots.
My wife and I haven't been given a date as such for our second shots, the med center said 16 weeks and they will ring us when it's time. That's how we got our first ones, they just phoned us because we are patients there, Moderna as well.
I got mine through the district health unit mass immunisation clinic. Registered as wanting a jab with a few drugstores and never got a call and the clinic where my GP is had no word on when and if they would be "invited" to help out with immunisations. The Ontario government has just proved that they could not organise a one man rush to a 10 man out house. To say I am thoroughly POed is a vast understatement.
On the bright side, one shot is better than none. WRT there not being a second dose when the time comes, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. No sense worrying about something I have no control over.
Bob
So I've signed up to get my vaccination about two weeks ago. Still waiting to get a appointment. Unfortunately I think I'll be waiting awhile because of my postal code☹. Of course I work in the hot spots traveling from region to region, fixing lift trucks at customers that have had active cases recently. Crossing my fingers that I get it soon
Dose 2 of Pfizer is done. In a couple of weeks I wont be able to covid shave; just doing the parts not covered by a mask.
Masks will be comeing off soon!
Yeah it seems the masks will be gone soon except transportation and hospitals. We got an email yesterday saying we will still be using them and honestly from now on I am planing to be masked while at work, at least when I am interacting with patients.
Other good news, covid numbers are down and we will be shutting down our covid hospital as of May 27th. Next weekend are my last day shifts there.
Although the mask mandate has been lifted for many situations in my area I am still required to wear one.
This is basically unenforceable so I could probably get away with it.
My issue is that I believe that I have a natural immunity since I have already had Covid.
There are no hard facts on the natural VS immunization immunity or the side effects of either at this time because the time frame has been so short.
I do see the argument that the side effects of the shot might be less than the disease if you haven't had the disease yet.
I personally know three families that have gotten covid after taking the shots. Still not good and they stayed out of the hospital so far but then again they are younger families that probably wouldn't have gone to the ICU in the first place.
One big question I have about the herd immunity thing is that around here anyway they say that herd immunity will not be reachable until 70% of the people have been vaccinated.
What about counting the natural immunity of people that have had it already?
This is all so still up in the air!
I have been watching a few places like this one and the numbers are getting lower.
https://mn.gov/covid19/data/response...e-capacity.jsp
As a general rule they reflect the situation. Notice I said general!
One thing that I have noticed is that people tend not to get sick or die on the weekends.....
They say the numbers are dropping in the state, but in my county they are holding strong. Up and down as usual. My boss says I must wear a mask when going into stores to drop paperwork on the counter so Im ok with that. Its only for a minute.
I have to ask.
If in the States people that have been vaccinated can stop wearing masks. How do they have to prove that they have been vaccinated or is it a simply a case that anyone can go maskless and just say that they have had the shots?
I am not sure about all of Canada but certainly in Windsor Essex County, Ontario where I live masks are mandatory regardless of whether a person has had the shot or not.
Our Governor Mike Dewine is lifting The Mask mandates the beginning of next month, in Ohio.
I read that too, Steve. And I find it discriminative towards those that haven't, or won't, get the shot.
The vaccine was intended to stop "you" from contracting the disease, but it doesn't stop the spread of it.
So what about those, like myself, who have already had the virus and have built their own resistance to it.
The masks were only used to slow the spread, never to stop it.
Its all a bunch of BS, in my opinion.
What really burns my butt, is all the free money given out to those that got to stay home from their jobs, while others who had jobs, deemed necessary by government, got nothing.
The working folks are carrying the rest of the country on our back's

All the idiots bashing the previous administration for acting counter to the what the CDC says are now acting counter to the CDC. The stench of hypocrisy permeates the air. Regarding masks? Use them if you want. If your vaccinated you can go without one ONLY if you want to. No penalty for wearing a mask.
I agree that not wearing a mask if you have gotten the shots is a good thing but how to tell if they actually got the shots. I herd one guy say that he got his shots so he plans on dropping the mask, and if the guy next to him didnt get the shots (as it was his choice to do) and he catches it from the guy who got the shots, than tough do-do. The other guy could have gotten the shots. It was his choice to go without.
I thought this was enteresting. I hadnt thought of it that way. Not saying he is right or wrong. But I will say its like most people in this world, only thinking of themselves.
MIT study was an eye opener. It ran counter to what the cdc was saying. Now theres plenty of intelligent people at the cdc. Theres plenty of intelligent people at MIT. Somebody is full of it. I dont know who yet.
Masks, lock downs etc were only meant to slow the spread so too many people wouldn't get sick at the same time.
Right now talking to the infectious specialists at the hospital, they expect to see a slow decline but the virus wont disappear. It's just more manageable to have one person on the brink of needing intubation in a 20 bed community ICU rather than 20 and no beds left.
Vaccines are here, they work, it's time to open. Everyone has covid fatigue.
By the way I mentioned this before. mRNA vaccine, RNA virus. When the virus infects you it basically puts it's RNA into your cells, highjacks them and uses them to replicate and while doing that it kills them. The vaccine puts a part of that RNA into your cells, makes them produces a part of the virus.
So either way some foreign RNA enters your cells. Same thing happens any time you get infected with a virus, any virus. The technology behind mRNA vaccines is fascinating.
mRNA is fascinating I agree.
RNA, DNA controlled and given to us by the government and or large corporations.
A little scary if you ask me.
Im just hoping it all gets under control enough soon that we can live with it. As that is what I see happening.
I'm somewhat confused as to how a vaccinated person could be mostly protected against severe illness, but yet still be able to carry and spread the virus. The only thing that I can come up with is that the vaccinated person's immune system is educated enough to lesson the viral load to a low enough level that they don't get sick, but it is not good enough to completely eradicate it, allowing the person to still carry and spread it.
This happened with typhoid - ever hear the story of typhoid Mary. She infected a whack of people without every showing any symptoms herself. She eventually had to live under virtual house arrest.
SOme people have a natural immunity, but continue to be able to infect others.
I think we are learning new things about respiratory viruses with this one. For example, I dont think there was ever a respiratory virus that people were being tested so much like this one.
Like DZEC said, the virus seems to be able to replicate in the mucosa in some people but not penetrate deeper. Like the typhoid where the reservoir is in the gallblader/billiary tree. Is that actually a malfunction of the immune system? Should our immune system be able to wipe the virus from the mucosa as well?
I think this bug is unique in many ways and it may take many years to fully figure it out. Until then we are really grasping at straws here.
Many who get this thing and are asymptomatic might very well find out years later they have serious damage in various organs.
We already know folks with health issues are at greater risk. That makes sense because their systems are weakened already.
It seems this bug has the ability to detect where it's chances for success are greatest. That's what they have to figure out.
One of our bestest friends from Colorado just posted this on her FB timeline
Been a victim to social pressure!
Peer pressure is real and im not going to tolerate it any longer!!!!
Family, friends and clients....
I caved! Got vaccinated to please everyone in my life.
Ive Experienced a week of migraine ,chills, fever,
Trembling, heart palpitations, Stuttering/slurred speech. Blurred vision, vomiting, ringing in the ears, faint, passing out, grey/pale complexion, and the fatigue was unreal! ,
THANK GOODNESS I'm married to a paramedic! I was in so much pain i asked Jeff to take me to the ER! They would have pumped me full of MORE TOXINS (shocker) is what the vaccine is -ALL “CHEMICALS” and sent me home....He took better care of me at home, than anyone would! Stop enforcing your beliefs on people! I know why I dont get vaccinated, and some made me question that belief! I'm way too hyper-sensitive to meds/vaccines!!!! SO STOP ASKING OR DEMANDING this of me!

I agree there's a lot of "unknowns" yet, however those with weakened systems or high sensitivity may be worse off with the jab.
The problem with the 'herd immunity' concept is that the individual is not considered. 1 in 100,000 bad reactions may be considered acceptable, unless you are the "one".
That's an issue for medical ethicists to work out.
It may seem harsh but do you deny survival to a million because one got really sick or died?
As to Glen's friend, she might have been one of the unlucky few to get a really bad reaction but ask someone who spent a month in a hospital on a ventilator and survived with serious damage if they would gladly suffer those side effects to never have had to be in a hospital.
I'm on another forum and one of their members and his father iirc both got Covid. His father died and he just barely survived. He now has had both jabs so is fully immunised. For himself he has said he does not care how bad the side effects of the jab are they don't come close to what he went through with Covid. He also said his lungs may be badly enough damaged from having Covid that he likely would not survive another infection of Covid so being vaccinated makes double sense for him.
I have not heard of anyone getting as severe a reaction to the vaccine as Glen's friend unless it was a specific and rare blood clot which condition has also caused deaths. I think those case so far have only been with the AZ vaccine.
As far as deaths go from being vaccinated, I suppose it boils down to what you would consider an acceptable casualty rate when trying to bring a pandemic under control. Pretty brutal but that is about the size of it.
Bob
The odds according to the stats we have of dying from a covid vaccine are very low. Youre more likely to get struck by lightning. Regarding blood clots for the J and J vaccine. The odds were one in a million. Birth control pills lead to blood clots in approximately 1 out of 10,000. DO women ever get blood clots from any other reason? Im sure. You have to include mortality statistics in this equation. SOme people die every day from whatever. Life insurance rates show this clearly. The older you get the higher chance you have of dying. One other thing. If someone wakes up one morning, drinks a cup of coffee and drops dead of a heart attack, was it the coffee? What if someone drank a glass of water then keeled over? Was it the water? Ive heard stories about people dying on the toilet. Was it the toilet? Millions and millions of doses were given. How many people die every day in the US? WHat were the stats a year ago or better yet pre covid? Very complicated equation. The wife took a trip. Shes been vaccinated many weeks before. Gets a rough cold and cough. Gets a covid test on returning. It wasnt covid, But it was a pretty rough cold. We are learning a lot from this. But my guess is there will always be unanswered questions. I got the vaccine. As did everyone else in my family including my 85 year old father. Nobody had any issues except my 22 yr old daughter. Who had a low fever for a day. Young women statistically have the most issues. Get it or dont get it? Thats up to you. Theres a million reasons to do or not do anything. Eventually we will know more about it.
It's not the dying. Not sure why the only option is death or survival. I can show you scores of patients that didnt die. They are suffering from post COVID syndrome unable to work, PTSD for the ones who spent weeks on the vent etc. Post COVID care clinics are being set up and filling up quickly for those patients.
My mom had COVID, spent a week at the hospital. Took few more weeks to get her strength back. Ask her if she would trade that for a vaccine.
Blood clots from contraception are different, different mechanism. The blood clots people get from the non mRNA vaccines, J&J and Astra, is immune mediated. Antibodies activate the platelets which then clump, thats why people have clots and low platelets at the same time. It's similar to HIT syndrome some patients get from the use of heparin.
