Thanked: 48Got boosted Dec 6. 4 out of 5 in the family are boosted. Three of us tested positive for covid. Very mild symptoms. We all have a slight runny nose. The wife had a low grade fever than went away rather quickly. The shots are beneficial for sure. But they have to stop calling them vaccines. They are not vaccines they are like flu shots. Not trying to tell anyone not to get one. I think they help a lot and protect against serious illness and death. I had a slight cold a few weeks ago that was worse than this. The youngest of my three is not boosted. and hes the only child who tested positive for it. The latest here in NY is +/- 26 % according to statistics anyway.

Thanked: 3222We call them flu shots but they are influenza vaccines. When you get your flu shot you are being vaccinated against the yearly flu/influenza. Like all vaccines, they don't stop 100% of infections but moderate the symptoms of those who do get infected to hopefully survive the infection and or hospitalisation.

Thanked: 1077I had the Pfizer booster in Dec, no side effects whatsoever. Spoke to a mate yesterday and unfortunately he got got a blood clot 2 days after his booster although the docs are very reluctant to admit it was the booster. He spent Christmas in hospital and still has to have daily stomach injections.

When we returned from Colorado in Sept we had literally destroyed our immune system from the stress, I lost over 20 lbs in two weeks NOT from a healthy lifestyle during this debacle.
We then spent the next few weeks taking the MiL to doctors and the hospital for appointments, which now we have learned is the biggest vector of the virus up here.
Within two weeks she had Covid symptoms, 3 days later Shan and I did also, I stepped to the plate and went to our Dr and got tested
I was positive and had a script for Ivermectin before I got home, Shan and the MiL tested positive the next day, Shan was on a Regeneron infusion within 10 minutes..
Interesting advice from my Dr as we talked
He asked "Glen how do you rate your normal immune response"
me: "Robust"
him: "I want you taking 2 real aspirins per day for the next 14 days, we have noticed that people that have really good immune response are more prone to clots"
me "REALLY"
I wonder if the Vax might be the same"No amount of money spent on a Stone can ever replace the value of the time it takes learning to use it properly"
Very Respectfully - Glen

Thanked: 48There's so little real studies going on that is released publicly anyway. They released a study on veterans and breakthrough infections . Really? That means 90% are.men and average age for veteran is 58 which is 20 years older than average citizen. They have all the stats but don't want to release them. Why? I'm not anti vax but the truth please. I rather someone say they don't know then dance around throwing you know what on the wall until something sticks.

a substance used to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity against one or several diseases, prepared from the causative agent of a disease, its products, or a synthetic substitute, treated to act as an antigen without inducing the disease.
"every year the flu vaccine is modified to deal with new strains of the virus"
Or if you like it better "A vaccine is a biological preparation that provides active acquired immunity to a particular infectious disease. A vaccine typically contains an agent that resembles a disease-causing microorganism and is often made from weakened or killed forms of the microbe, its toxins, or one of its surface proteins.
When the target bug changes the protection can waver. Luckily, Omicron does not have a lethality like Delta. If it did people would be dropping like flies.
If a vaccine keeps you out of the hospital or suffering permanent issues it has done it's job. Some are more effective than others. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 3222To show you how quickly and easily this Omicron version can spread, I'll tell you what is happening at the MiL's long term care home. For a while now all staff and visitors had to wear masks and be fully vaccinated with visitors showing proof on entry. A couple of weeks ago they restricted visitors to the 2 designated essential care givers and only one at a time. In my MiL's case that is my wife and my Nephew. In addition the essential care givers had to now show proof of a negative Covid rapid test taken on the day of the visit. Even with all these precautions in place, we just got a call that there is a Covid outbreak on my MiL's ward. We made the tough decision not to visit till the outbreak is declared over.
