Thanked: 0"If something goes wrong -even if there were no negative consequences- it is a BIG deal and ass will be kicked."
Who said it wasn't a BIG deal? The major general was fired.
Is this not ass kicking? I have a feeling that no matter what
they do, you and people like you, will never be satisfied.
How about the firing squad for those responsible? Would you
then be pleased?

The CO was fired. That is understandable because the buck stops with him, but that doesn't solve the problem, nor does it prevent the same thing from happening again.
Multiple people f*ed up at multiple places and that should not even have been possible. The system failed. Not the general. THAT is my point.
Why do you mind me opening a discussion on that?
And no I don't call for a firing squad. I never indicated that. But ultimately it was NOT the general who f*ed up. It were the people who handled the nuke so if there are to be punishments, those people are the ones to blame as much as the general.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Keep it above the beltline fellas. If you want to discuss issues, keep it clean and intellectual. Personal attacks are off-limits.

Mr. Beardhunter,
In this forum you'll find some American bashing! some will be direct and some rather sly and cowardly! Me and others on this forum address this when we see it,but I must say that I don't think this was Brunos intent. If I thought it was his intent I would have addressed it already! I do think, however, that some might take advantage of Brunos thread to "beat up" on America! Holler at those guys all you want, I'll be standing right next to you!

Thanked: 1I don't think this is America bashing, I would imagine that getting a nuclear devise into the states would be the biggest obstacle for terrorists and the fact that the military lost track of some if even for a few hours scares the crap out of homeland security as it should you.
Theres another thread running about 911 and and none of us want to to be watching the news and hearing about 10's 100's of thousands of Americans dead.
again: not America bashing but concern for fellow men and criticism of incompetence that has yet to be assigned.

09-07-2007, 03:00 PM #17I think there is a big difference between having a nuke and delivering a nuke.
Bruno thank you for the heads up. The Canadian news I watched didn't cover this story and my Google world news didn't cover it.
That was not bashing. Grow a thicker skin guys.

Thanked: 0Iran Nukes etc
From my understanding of the situation it isn't that Iran has nuclear capabilities it's that (they wouldn't be able to reach the US with them anyway). It's that they are aggressive toward Israel which is one of our allies.
If they attack Israel it will force us to pick sides and all hell will break loose. That whole area is peppered with allies and enemies which makes everything complicated. Iran is not some push over third world nation. Yikes.

Imagine being the soldier who is unloading the plane and suddenly discovers that those things look a lot like real nukes...
That'd have sent his heart rate up for sure
Um, sir... You are not going to believe this sir, but... um... ... We appear to have accidentally gotten 6 nukes sir...
Over here this was only mentioned on the radio in passing. Not on the tv. Probably because 3d league soccer is more important...
I guess there is one spec of light: this didn't happen on the 11th.
Can you imagine the sheer panic if 6 nukes went awol on that particular day?
I guess we should be thankful that that didn't happen.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
