I think I've said this before and you didn't believe me then but I'll repeat it now I am not a democrat. Purely Independent. I vote for whoever I think will do the job regardless of party.
I think history has shown over and over again when you appease a strongman he becomes bolder. In the case of Russia history also shows when you let them bluster their way and find no resistance they continue their inevitable march. When they meet strong resistance they fold. Check your history books.

Of course, I think we all know, if it's so simple, why it hasn't happened already.
War is an investment in power. Because if you have power, you don't need money. The power brokers of the world are busy keeping us throwing muck at each other in a, "he went that way," effort to keep their cash cows going.
What can we do about it? Well, pay attention and participate in the conversation for one thing. It's easy to say, "I don't like politics because it's just a bunch of people arguing and it makes me uptight," and so then the power brokers win. But really it's the civic duty of every citizen to participate. Past that pay attention to who you vote for and back the guy the in office now. But make sure he's doing his job like he's supposed to.
You over look the inconvenient fact Russia invaded a sovereign country. You can point fingers and say well it's Biden's fault or Obama's fault because they did nothing about Crimea though that was the start of sanctions against Russia. However that gets more complicated because of the Russia aligned President of Ukraine at the time and the history surrounding Crimea.
You can use all kinds of excuses to give Putin the pass but the bottom line is there is a war going on and instability in the region. The big question is if Ukraine falls what does Putin do next. If you take the position it ain't our problem and we've spent too much there already then you be shooting craps. If you win then you get to tell us all off but if you be wrong it might be your children or grandchildren who might be off to fight another war and suffer to save some money.
History always repeats itself. After WW1 Germany was only allowed a small self defense force and the Europeans stuck their heads in the sand and allowed Germany to rearm and then appease Hitler. You know the result. As they say "Beware the ides of march".
