Spent most of the weekend looking at for sale boats, then some gardening for the wife, all in all a pleasant weekend

Refinishing an end table from the 1930's for the wife unit. Using boiled linseed oil and a mix of tru-oil to finish the piece. The grain is popping! I don't know why they would cover this up.....

Thanked: 315Looked at houses. Submitting offers. One house we liked had a girls' playhouse and swing set in the backyard that my daughter was thrilled about. She kept asking us to get that one.

Thanked: 3226Had some water in the basement after last Saturday's downpour of 73 mm/2.9 inches of rain. The ground was still frozen so it had nowhere to go. Still working on clean up this weekend waiting for the insurance company to give the contractor the go ahead. Hundred's of others in the same boat or worse. Waiting for another predicted smaller downpour tomorrow. There is still lots of snow left on the ground to melt too.

Thanked: 556Been there too Bob. We had a sump pump clog up during a downpour and got about 3 inches in the basement. Fortunately, we noticed early and were able to clear the blockage before too much damage was done and no drywall had to be replaced. We still had to replace carpet that had only been installed two months earlier. Thank goodness our insurance covered us.

Our neighbors are still all bitter and twisted that the guy that built the house we bought raised the land before he did it so our sump pump doesn't go off too often as all the water runs away from us into the neighbors.
I do sympathize with them but what can I say, I didn't build the place. just bought it 21 years later.- - Steve
