I went horse riding once.
It started bucking and jumping around, I was holding on for dear life, I was only about 20 and it was so scary.
If the guy hadn't come out and pulled the plug, I might have fallen off.Last edited by STF; 06-22-2022 at 08:34 PM.

You never realize what you have until it's gone -- Toilet paper is a good example

I dated a girl in high school that lived on about 20 acres and had a horse. She was saddle breaking him just as we started dating, so I got to see the whole process, and help her. I think he was a Morgan. One day she was getting him used to the blanket and the saddle, and he bit her. So she grabbed his lip and bit him back on his lip. He never bit her again.
I remember the first ride I had on him. It was an amazing feeling of accomplishment to have taken a horse and trained him to the saddle. I learned to ride with my father when I was very young. But stopped riding at the age of 9 or 10, so I was amazed that to me it was like riding a bike.
Other than that, I think the last time I was on horseback was when I was 21 or 22. That was it. I have hung up my spurs."I get some lather and lather-up, then I get my razor and shave! Zip Zop, see that? My face Is ripped to shreads!"

The main thing that I have found I dislike about horseracing is the slow pace. Of the day not necassarily the horses!
Also that your payouts on the bet can change after you make them.
This weekend the only for sure plans is to have my grand daughters over Saturday.
I got a silly package at work today but it did contain a blow up beach ball.
That ball and 3 young girls could maybe turn into something fun.
Please no snide remarks on that last statement............

Yes, time between races at the track can be long if you are not actively handicapping. It can take up to an hour to handicap a race - depending on variables like the number of horses in each race. So if you are actively handicapping during the day, time goes by quickly. I sometimes handicap the morning of and pray there are no big scratches or other changes per race so I don't have to do a particular race all over again.
When I have free time between races, I tend to hang around the paddock to be around the horses. That's relaxing to me. Others get snacks, drinks, lunch, dinner, whatever. You can always fill the time, but I understand your comment."I get some lather and lather-up, then I get my razor and shave! Zip Zop, see that? My face Is ripped to shreads!"
