Old Games like doom/quake genre or golf game like minimaniacs etc. Something that can be played in windowed mode so you can still browse etc mid game while staying in the game for a chat etc. would be nice if we could get a SRP league going for the game also

Any ideas or am I barking up the wrong tree?

A SRP golf league sound too perfect and gentlemanly, I'd be in but....

I've Played all the Quake games online now since they first came out. I stopped with Q3 last year to go back to Quake1 (quakeworld), this proved to be silly because everyone is so much better now than when I left. Not sure if this machine I have now would run Q2 any good. Last pc was powerful and fast but it fried and warranty dispute is taking forever
Try Quakeworld and I'll join you on that Morturn

    DID I HEAR GOLF????

I would be game. I always liked Doom, (never played anything but the original). Duke Nukem (don't know if that is an online game), Diablo, ...

You all just let me know.

Or maybe a poll on what games people already have, and go with the most popular.

    Anyone play online poker here?
    A micro-limit game would be a blast.

I have decided not play online games. Ever.
I am fairly certain (and my wife agrees ) that I would get addicted very rapidly.

I used to be into adventures when I was youngers: space quest 1..7, kings quest 1-4, Leisure suit larry...
Later on I was into Doom, quake, duke nukem, unreal, castel wolfenstein

It was bad enough but at least with those games you have the option to save a game, stay away for a week and pick up where you left.

with modern multiplayer games, the games are always evolving. Plus you are dealing with real people so if you belong to a clan or such, you are expected to play regularly. Plus the worlds are so vast that you need to play a lot if you are an exploring kind of player.

If I started playing world of warcraft, I think it would end badly for me, marriage-wise.

I have a 55" HDTV with a 700 watt 6.1 surround sound system and my xbox does just fine, I have no complaints at all. My only complaint is that all the new games are coming out on xbox360.

Here is my complaints about xbox and xbox360:
    1. xbox in general, if you want to play 2 player vs or coop you have to play xbox live. On the large majority of games playing 2 player while sitting in the same room on 1 xbox is not a possibility.

    2. the 360 just had a $1,000,000,000 (yes billion) recall, so Im not very interested in buying one right now.

The PS3 does look interesting, but I am going to wait until my xbox dies before I buy something else. I often think, gee why dont I just buy the damn xbox360 once the new units ship after the recall issue, but then I think for $400.00+ I could by a very nice new razor (there now this thread can stay in the general section)
Get a Wii! I have one and it's a blast; for $250, it's practically a steal as far as consoles go. I don't get to play mine as often as I'd like, but when I do it's great fun.

One of my buddies has a Wii and thinks it is just great. You don't just sit there a press buttons, but actually move your body to play. That is just too cool. I was thinking about getting one for my daughters, since there are more kid friendly games for Nintendo, and playing a Wii is not so sedentary as other consoles.
