    Default Could it be possible

I was watching my son playing an online game the other night and thought "That would be a great way for us to get to know each other and kick the shoes off"
I joined in with my son and his friends on the game and it way a great laugh with text chat etc to add to the overall fun. We could run a SRP championship etc

    just a thought

my brother and I would do that on Diablo II when I was going to Grad school to catch up. We would get together regularly on Wednesday nights. It was a great way to catch up and have fun at the same time.

I would be all for it. I have a PS2 and can get online with it somehow, or we can use the computer.

What about creating a 2nd life gathering? (God I'm a Geek!!!!)

I'm not into gaming but I did have some good times playing Ragnarok with my fiance, her brother and her 2 sisters.

I remember playing Mechwarrior3 just a few years back. Just as you said there was plenty of friendships. We even formed clans or teams to meet onlne and compete against other teams. Great fun! Whatever game you play, Gamespy is a good site to meet on or you can download Xfire. It's like a instant messenger that also supports lots of the newest games. Xfire allows you to keeps track of your online friends and also their friends when they log on to xfire. I've played on Gamespy and the msn gaming lobbies but have never played on xfire.

Boy this thread would be great to put in an off topic forum if we had one... (insert drum roll here)

I have never played my xbox using xbox live...Im too afraid I would get addicted.

how do you like your xbox? I was thinking of upgrading to the 360, or the PS3, but just can't quite make the financial commitment to it, especially given that I don't play videogames too much since I would rather play real life with my daughters
(and there are too many razors/strops/hones/soaps/creams/aftershaves/... to acquire).

Im so emotionally torn right now....do I consider this thread off topic, or roll with it until it has a proper home like the OT forum

I have a 55" HDTV with a 700 watt 6.1 surround sound system and my xbox does just fine, I have no complaints at all. My only complaint is that all the new games are coming out on xbox360.

Here is my complaints about xbox and xbox360:
    1. xbox in general, if you want to play 2 player vs or coop you have to play xbox live. On the large majority of games playing 2 player while sitting in the same room on 1 xbox is not a possibility.

    2. the 360 just had a $1,000,000,000 (yes billion) recall, so Im not very interested in buying one right now.

The PS3 does look interesting, but I am going to wait until my xbox dies before I buy something else. I often think, gee why dont I just buy the damn xbox360 once the new units ship after the recall issue, but then I think for $400.00+ I could by a very nice new razor (there now this thread can stay in the general section)

Well seems like there could be some possible takers for this. I was thinking along the lines of a game that is computer based and not a heavy user of the system.
Old Games like doom/quake genre or golf game like minimaniacs etc. Something that can be played in windowed mode so you can still browse etc mid game while staying in the game for a chat etc. would be nice if we could get a SRP league going for the game also

Any ideas or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Could be a goer, in fact I still play Quake 2 most nights so if you fancy a frag call in to either of these two game servers:-

Marts Dirty Den, IP address 82.45.48.72:27910

    Or

    Frusters, IP address 62.44.69.98:27910
