Nobel peace prize
Al Gore won it for his movie, "An Inconvenient Truth" ! That, in my book, officially makes the Nobel panel laughable! As if awarding that prize to Arafat didn't!
What say you!

Thanked: 1And don't forget Jimmy Carter. The Nobel peace prize has been a joke for years. (Was Ronald Reagan ever nominated? If memory serves correctly, he had a bit to do with ending the cold war!)

I agree that awarding the peace prize to Gore cheapens the award. I don't agree with most of Gore's policy positions, but that's not the point... I think an award like the Nobel should be given for actual accomplishments. In my view, Gore has been little more than a vocal advocate for environmental issues--and an advocate not always welcomed by those he's trying to aid.
If speaking out on an issue qualifies one for the Nobel Peace Prize, I can think of a few other people who would be qualified... Nobel-laureate Rush Limbaugh, anyone?
The science and medical awards are given for breakthroughs in those respective fields. The Peace Prize should be given for similar breakthroughs in human relations.
Just my two cents.

Thanked: 1I have to agree with all that has been said.
I would add that his movie contained allot of dodgy data and misleading math.
(devils advocate)
I do believe he has done more than any other individual to popularize energy conservation, which can only be a good thing, even if his motives are ulterior.
