OK guys,
I have taken your advice and taken Firefox for another spin last night. So far so good, just a matter of getting used to where all the tabs are.
I did also run IE7 as well and am still getting the same results. I tried to do a print screen to show you all but hey I ran out of time last night, but I shall try again.
How come if this is a problem with IE7 others are not having the same problem, because as I said up until a week or so ago it was running fine?
Thanks
John

You didn't sacrifice a black cockerel to the gods of Micro$oft at the last full moon. That is why. Bwahahaha!
(Sorry!)

As far as I know IE is very closely integrated with the operating system - very likely what is triggering it to be something specific to your configuration of software and hardware. If you haven't installed new extensions for the past week since that started acting up I'm not sure what to say.
Don't get me wrong, firefox isn't ideal neither. it may be worse than IE, may be better - it's just an option you can try and see for yourself. I've recently switched form the default browser on my OS (safari) to firefox, just because Safari had issues that became untollerable for something I had to do. Then I got an update to firefox and the new version started crashing like crazy - random crashes every few minutes. I has a suspicion where the problem is so I accepted the QuickTime update that apple has been trying to push to me for some time. It worked just fine after that. I still think firefox should build more protection around the proprietary multimedia libraries (such quicktime and flash), so that when they start misbehaving they don't crash the application, but in any case it's been by far the best full-featured browser that i've used.
minstrel: yeah he's waiting for the full moon halloween, otherwise it's been proven to yield subpar results

mozilla came out long before internet explorer, safari or any of those. Rumor has it that microshaft took the open source code from mozilla web browser and vandalized it to look and run differently enough that they had their own web browser and went from there and created the deformed monstrosity currently known as IE
.
Firefox is simply mozilla. When it was ported to windows there were a few hiccups and of course the "alleged" attempts by microsoft to prevent it from working properly on windows.
The only troubles I ever had from mozilla firefox was web developers who sold their souls to satan and would code against anything not IE

I remember few months ago seeing ads for webdevelopers to put "you're using unsupported browser" stopping page if the website detects IE/Safari
Thought it was a great idea. Always hated when my bank would just not let non-IE browser into their internet banking (I wrote them and considered switching banks, but ended up just sending off an IE identefication from firefox - yeah i know i've got no spine)

Thanked: 22This is so good I had to quote it.
+1 for linux and firefox. I switched to firefox a few years ago after I ended up getting a spyware infection so bad when I was using IE that I had to nuke my drive. Since then once in the blue moon I would get 1 or 2 spyware crap but majority of the time firefox prevented it.
I installed Ubuntu as my OS about 2 months ago after Winblows had some type of fit and wouldn't work properly. Admittedly yes Ubuntu has one or 2 bugs that need fixing but it is hell fast and those few bugs are sometimes just a tad annoying but a small price to pay.
I saw the light and swear by both. Yay for open source.
P.S Ditch Micro$oft office and get open office.

he-he, I always thought ubuntu is really slow and getting slower and slower...
depends which side you're coming from i guess....
still it is my os of choice, and i've been trying to push it on all of our machines in my group (6-7 desktops, 3-4 servers and 40 diskless compute nodes). btw it's replacing it's father 'debian' whenever i succeed. ubuntu server is very impressive - they've trimmed the std install quite a bit and these days i've seen the light and i'm all for using defaults - they've just become that good (and i was a customization freak - nobody knew what was it that i'm running).

I HIGHLY doubt it.
There are thousands of people (incl me if I want) with access to the windows source code and related applications. If that would have been true, someone would have spilled the beans. Not to mention digruntled employees who would like to nail them down.
A couple of years ago there was a leak of a good chunk of windows source code, and it was analyzed by several people. None of the code was stolen from open source.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
