I used to play a lot when I was in school. When I joined the working force, I played less and less. Now I don't play anymore.

But I was never into the whole competition / serious chess thing.
I liked to play in the evening, having a glass of whisky, having a quiet chat with my opponent.

My idea exactly. I love a good game of chess in it's own time, I even own a few books about opening repertoire and general strategy. But I always hated playing against a machine. It makes as much sense to me as weight lifting against a fork lift. Some people might enjoy it, but I need the social interaction of a real life opponent. Count me in on the whisky too.

I used to play quite a bit in high school and college but haven't played regularly in years. Not a big fan of online gaming of any sort and most of the people I know don't play. Given the choice I prefer to play Go as well but I know even fewer people that know how to play (though its easier to explain the basics to someone that hasn't played it than chess ).

Backgammon is a very good game. Easy to learn, very deep strategy, addictive and a beautiful game.

Wish I could make razors here in Greenwich, but instead, I just warm up a chair and forward help desk tickets misdirected to our department. Since we moved all our development offshore, I don't have much technical stuff to do any more. But this will be good training for a job where I'd have to ask "do you want fries with that", LOL!

Or you could start making razors and knives for a living?
On second thought... that would probably make them more expensive...
