Thread: Tax time again...

This problem came into being about 15 minutes after the first taxes were collected in history: "you're doing what with my money?!?!?"
Paying taxes is not a moral obligation, so any legal method you can use to lower your burden is fair game. Of course, it depends on your income and tax amount as to whether you should engage an accountant....if the service costs more than the refund...
I don't have kids...but have to pay to fund schools and their sports programs, regardless of the number of low-grade morons graduating and entering the workforce ("Yes, dear, I know I gave you too much money...the cost was $17.75...I gave you a $20 and 3 quarters...give me $3 back....").
I like the model in Germany: you go to school for classes, sometimes on Saturday, spread throughout the year (no 3 month vacation in the summer...sort of like the real world...they do this rotating schedule now in Colorado) and if Junior wants to play, Mommy and Daddy can pay for it at the local rec center.
I'm sure many view this as heresy.....to quote Lou "whatever."

I'm not going to get screwed so bad simply because I have enough deductions to get rid of any tax burden I have. That says one thing about me- I don't make very much money Soon, when I do actually start to make real money again, I'll be hating tax time.

Yeah, QO, I'm sure you'd rather hate tax time. I guess I wish you 30% taxes then.

I would rather that to what I have now. I'm not jobless, but even jobless people wish they had taxes to pay. It at least means they make enough money for the government to take notice and want some of it.

Most of the time kids play the sport through their schools. Typical schools have baseball, softball, soccer, football, and basketball teams for kids to play on, all supported by taxes. Many schools have even more sports to choose from.
The sad part is, even if you don't have a child using the schools, you still get to pay for it. It's starting to change, but for a while, homeschooled kids wouldn't be allowed to play on those tax supported teams. Sad really.

Thanks I didn't know this.
Over here, schools are just schools, and while there may or may not be something like a theatre group or something similar, no school I know of organizes sports.
that is left up to the sports clubs themselves.
Over here there is also no such thing as college league basketball or football.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Well, it all stems from people thinking the government should handle everything and that school is daycare for their children. They don't want to have to take their kids to the sports clubs, etc., they just want to drop their kids off in the morning (if even that) and pick up a tired kid at the end of the day.

My youngest goes to day care parents. That costs ~ 300 euros per month
The oldest goes to school but spends an hour or so in after school daycare.
That isn't nearly as expensive, luckily.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
