I love tax time... it's like a game of chess, and if you win, you win a bunch of money. Basically, it's a contest between me and the IRS to see who can find the most loopholes and abuse them. (hey, I didn't put the system in place, and I don't like it, but that doesn't mean I won't play it like a cheap fiddle)
Basically, I see it as my chance to get back at the gov't that's been screwing me all year long.

Heres a fun one. I've been unemployed so the state payed me unemployment, but now I have to pay the federal government the taxes on my unemployment.
Don't even get me started about having to pay income tax on my tax refund from last year. "Its a REFUND you morons its money you shouldn't have taken in the first place it isn't new income."

exactly, I'm being taxed on money other people already paid in in tax. In other words your tax dollars are paying me so I can pay my tax dollars. Figure that out. Its the tax man taxing the tax man for the taxes.

For some reason, this is starting to sound like Dr. Seuss ...
*to the same meter as wocket in your pocket*
If you have taxes in your pocket on a Texas summer day,
and the government takes taxes to combat moral decay,
then the taxing Texas taxman will tax nearly all your pay,
then ship all your Texas taxes to DC with no delay!
So you should take your Texas taxes and your hard earned income, too,
and retreat to Bora Bora or perhaps then Timbuktu,
for to relinquish Texas taxes to a taxman taxing you
is like giving up your daily bread and even your fish stew!Last edited by jockeys; 02-07-2008 at 03:19 PM.

I got my tax return last Friday. A big fat extra paycheck in the middle of January, just in time to pay off most of those Christmas presents. I love it!

Yep...and their are families where if Junior is not doing well in math, the parents will not bother responding to the teacher's requests for a meeting, but let them threaten to pull Junior from the
team because he thinks 2+2=moose, and all hell breaks loose. I think a lot of parents are trying to live through their kids "Little Johnny didn't make the football team...I must be a loser".....a lot of parents have even been known to berate their kids for not being a champion....
There are benefits to participating in sports - learning teamwork, physical exercise, etc., but many people take it to an extreme and my tax dollars are paying for it.
If the same emphasis was put on academics as is put on sports in schools and by parents, we wouldn't be graduating people who can't even find their own state on a map of the US. (I'm serious....there was a study of some college students...they thought Ethiopia was in Scandinavia...)
