Thanked: 20Swedish Glogg
This time of year this is a staple in my house... I used to have guys stop by when snowmobiling just to get a short mug of this to warm them up.
Swedish Glogg is a mixture of different boozes cooked with nuts, spices and dried fruits. You can use any kind of booze you want, but I have a fabulous mixture of port wine, vodka, rum and brandy that I use.. I am warming up 4 bottles of port wine with the spices right now to make my third batch this winter.. after the wine and spices simmer for a while, I will add the booze and set it on fire.. let it sit for a while and pour it back in the bottles. It is served warm in a mug and is just the thing for this time of year.. Anyone else make this?

Thanked: 351Well, it's similar in the Eastern part of Norway where I grew up but I prefer another sort of beverage called "The Coffee Doctor". It was perfect for just about any ailment you could think of.... the recipe was quite simple:
Place a cube of sugar in the bottom of a coffee mug.
Pour black (as h*ll) hot coffee over the sugar cube until it disappears from sight.
Pour pure grain alcohol into coffee mug until you can see the sugar cube again or until mug is full, whichever comes first.
Drink and repeat as necessary until ailment no longer bothers you.
It truly is one of those "Never Fail" Norwegian cures.

Kaptain, I gotta say I love your signatures.
That Swedish Glog sounds quite good, but I've never had it.
