Here in Michigan the Blue Laws are just No Alcohol sales before 2pm on Sundays and no t alcohol sales from 2am to 6am any day. Also No sales to anyone below 21, and the bar will be prosecuted in some area the parents could be sent to jail. Also in some places if your kid throw a party while you are on vacation you could go to jail when you get home. But you can buy Liquor and beer or wine in every grocery store.

Don't forget there are still dry counties around the country where no alcohol is allowed to be sold. If I remember correctly Jack Daniels distillery is in one of them.

Baton Rouge doesn't allow Alcohol sales on Sunday at all. I remember partying down there and having to head for the county line on Sunday to get booze. Strangely enough there was one just past the welcome sign for the next district, imagine that.

It's funny - we get foreign exchange students from the US here quite a bit. Our legal drinking age is 18. So these students spend a year or 6 months studying and being able to get into nightclubs and pubs and being able to drink legally.

Must be a kick in the pants when they go home. I must remember to ask them.

Think about the guys in the military, under 21, that come home from abroad and can't even buy a drink. Over there putting their life on the line and can't even have a cold one!

That is correct-Jack Daniel's distillery is in a dry county! No alcohol consumption at all there-when you finish the tour of the distillery they serve cookies and lemonade. Not bad lemonade mind you but when you visit THE distillery lemonade is not the beverage you really desire.

This thread should help you guys understand this song
    a little better.

A "quick sack" is A bottle of Liquor, open alcohol bottles are illegal in public, but they sell it wrapped in a paper bag thus avoiding the most obvious violation of the law. You buy it at the package store ironically enough.

When I was living in Buffalo it was not allowed to buy beer on Sundays before 2PM. I had been told that the law was there to avoid drunk people in the church - I don't know how much of this is true.

In Switzerland the legal age for beer is 16, for wine and other drinks 18.

Beer stores in Ontario are open 7 days a week. Maybe not all.
I'm not a beer drinker but have had my share.

Yeah -- I didn't address the Sunday sales part ---I guess it varies. Lafayette and New Orleans are two good partying/drinking cities -- at least as I remember them--- I'm not part of that scene anymore.

in Texas, by virtue of the assholes at the TABC, you cannot buy alcohol for drinking or in bottles before noon, period end of story. futhermore, if you are buying later in the day on a sunday, for on premise consumption, you MUST serve it with food before 5pm. (as a former waiter, I took a lot of flak for this one)

if you are under 21, a parent or legal guardian may buy alcohol for you but only for on-premise consumption, not in bottles to take away.

this is only for TX, dunno about other states.

Here in North Carolina, beer can not be bought before 12:00pm on Sundays and I believe all liquor stores are closed on Sundays. In South Carolina, no beer at all can be sold on Sundays.
