I liked the movie in the theaters, even though it was a little hard to get into the musical parts. It just seemed like they sang more in this musical than in most other musicals i have seen. The graphic scenes were awesome though (esp. the montage of throat cutting!)

Personally, it sucked. I'm not a fan of musicals in general. They could have followed the brodway script, or historical accuracy, but they chose to go off on their own and did worse. Not a movie I'll own, or bother to watch again.

a little too much singing for me but i liked it. i do wish the had researched how to shave a little bit more but what do you expect from Tim Burton all his movies are more on the fiction then fact side. all in all it was a good movie with a nice little twist at the end.

I am not usually a fan of musicals but I liked this one. I guess because it had straight razors in it. Even if he stropped the razor incorrectly.

I missed the movie when it was in theatres, so it was nice to watch it on dvd.
was it any good? I thought so. I've seen the broadway version several times, (previous poster is correct, lansbury did a heck of a job) and am a fan of musicals in general (especially burton's). I like that they removed all the extra singers and focused more on the main characters, and the singing was fantastic. (who knew depp could sing like that? hope he does more) I was especially impressed by depp's singing on "My Friends" and carter's singing on "By the Sea"
found myself humming and singing bits of it all weekend long :-P a good musical will do that to ya

You'd think that with all the technical specialists that work on movies these days, they'd get the razor part right. It's not like razors were an insignificant part of the film.

Thanked: 131I fell about when I saw JD stropping with the edge leading Clearly he has researched that role well. And then he shaves the guy perfectly in one pass in 10 seconds Even if the razor had been shave-ready (which it clearly wasnt given the stropping technique) Nobody can shave like that! A little more realism please MrBurton. And for goodness sake do something without JD in it!
