    Default UPS

I've never shipped with UPS, but I recall one time when I ordered a rather pricey replica rapier for historical fencing they were so late delivering that the buisiness I ordered from was preparing to send me a second rapier and deal with UPS later.

When it finally did arrive, the fellow propped it up against my door, knocked on the door and left. Thankfully I was home, which was purely a fluke. I stayed home the day it was meant to be delivered, but really did not in any way expect to see it show up at this point.

So I open up my door and have the package fall against me, no biggy... The thing that go me was they just dropped it off and took off. There was a few hundred dollars worth of rapier in that box, not something I'd just leave on someone's door step.

I have been calling UPS OOPS! for 20+ years..oops we lost it,oops we broke it....

We ship USPS almost exclusively, but receive all sorts. Our UPS driver has been complaining a bit lately. It seems they are spending more time finding flaws in the speed of deliveries than in customer service. In the end it is ONLY about how much money they can make right now, not down the line.

I have moved around a bit and I have found that all of the shippers run into problems and sometimes it is local. For instance I worked for the nations largest jewelry chain. We shipped locally with fedex, but other aeas shipped with ups or dhl. One day I asked one of the shipping managers at corporate why. The answer was that fedex looses too many packages in this or that area so we use ups, dhl, etc. So, in your area one shipper may be better than what is good in mine.

UPS is horrible. I wouldn't ship using them unless I got a tracking number right when the package was handed to the person behind the desk. Worst treatment of packages in the industry. Every box I receive from them is mangled. Nothing but praise for Fedex and DHL, who is looking more and more promising every day.

Robert F., nailed it on the head with UPS and their brokerage fees, they are a joke. FedEx is slowly catching onto the game of brokerage fees as well and have smashed me in the jacobs on a few occasions lately. I've only had one parcel lost through USPS and Canada Post.

All in all, USPS and Canada Post win. The couriers have my 9-5 business but personally I wouldn't give them anything else as they just don't care.

    kind regards,

All the carriers do this in my area. Makes it fun when I order ammunition which is supposed to be "adult signature required" they leave it sitting on my porch with the required "ammunition, hazardous material, ground ship only" label readable from the street

I live just outside of a big city and UPS often delays delivery by one day to make it more worth their while to make the drive less often....maybe?? USPS has been great for all the packages I've ever sent or had delivered, today the soap from Don was scanned in to the post office this morning and back on a truck and in my box before noon. UPS would have hit 10 hours for the day and said well, they can wait.

I had the regular post lose a very nice TI I ordered from ClassicShaving...
UPS lost this one, and it's been 2 days. I hope they find it, but I have my doubts. I had them reroute it back to me when they find it, so I can inspect it for damage, and send it with Fed-ex. If UPS can find it. It would be just my luck, UPS won't find it, they won't honor the insurance, and I'll see it forsale on E-bay in a month.
