It's not the natural waste of a human which is like any other animal on this earth that concerns me, it is the unnatural and industrial waste that we produce that concerns me. Does nobody remember the Love Canal or the thousands of superfund sites around the states?

Thanked: 150Among other small things, I use those reusable grocery store bags, mostly because I hate the accumulation of random plastic sacks that occurs otherwise.
p.s. is it really necessary to laugh at the expense of others? whether or not you believe in global warming, a general respect for Mother Earth is at the least commendable. Maybe that's just the country boy in me talking though.

I have all my computers undervolted as much as possible, this allows my computers to run cooler, quieter as well as draw less power.

It's Earth Day again!
The Earth does not give me life but it does provide resources which I use to help sustain it. And I am quite thankful that God provided it - maybe I can can do something about that
This year I resolve not to hope that any giant asteroids destroy the planet, and to that end I will endeavor to build a home-based rocket system to help protect the earth. I will also continue to run my air conditioner and heaters only when I am uncomfortable and to make sure all plastic gets tossed in the wastebasket instead of sitting in a landfill somewhere
And above all these, I will continue to use a non-disposable straight razor!Find me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

Thanked: 155I do nothing to reduce consumption, I consume what and how much I want limited only by my ability to pay for it.
I reduce waste only if it saves me money (i.e increases my ability to consume).
Some things i do:
Recycle paper, plastic, metal etc. The money saved reduces other costs.
I use energy saving light bulbs as much as possible. Clearly a net saving in both power consumption and cost of bulbs
I minimize the cost of energy to heat/cool my house via a programable thermostat and active energy management
I have a very sophisticated lawn irrigation system and minimize my use of water for irrigation
I turn off the monitor on my computers when they are not in use, I also unplug all those chargers when they are not charging anything.
I turn off lights when I leave the room.
Some things I don't do (and why)
I do not use a cloth shoping bag, it does not save me anything, and I need the plastic bags to take out the yukky garbage.
I do not drive a toy car. I enjoy my sports car, and my wife likes her luxury sedan. We can afford the gasoline, so I will buy and use the kind of cars I like.

I do two things for earth day:
1.) I don't drive my 1992 Dodge D350 truck with a 5.9L Cummins diesel (tranny is busted).
2.) I work at the largest nuclear generating facility in the good ole US of A. On any given day we generate ~4,000 megawatts (yes I said megawatts) of electricity without any carbon emissions.
Take it or leave it - it's all good.
