yeah, I can type much faster than I can write, I'm a programmer by trade, so I thought it would be good for me to practice writing. haha, my handwriting has gone from illegible to almost decent looking over the last hundred pages or so
no clue on the wife's book, she's also trying to work full time and finish her master's degree, so I'm guessing it'll be a while :-P

Thanked: 0My handwriting is atrocious. I hope your wife has good luck with her book--its tough trying to do anything while finishing up post graduate work. I just finished my portion of a draft of a comparative sales law book I am co-writing with an Italian friend. Being that I am trying to finish up law school also, it goes without saying that my wife has been less than pleased with the amount of my time it has taken up.

The odd magazine article, but no fiction. It's not that I don't have the ideas, but not the time... and I have a great fear of a blank paper (be it a "new document" in a word prcessor or a sheet of paper). I need to force myself through the first page or two before I "get the flow"...

Oh yeah, I forgot about technical writing. I've written several tech manuals that were circulated within my last company. I've been told that my manuals are clear and easy to read, so I suppose I've had a little success...not that tech manuals are overly difficult or creatively involved.

It's true, but I never understood why that is. I guess it could be that the people that write them often do not have a customer service background and tend to assume a lot. Who knows...

I write technical pieces for my "real" job and dabble at home, mainly blog type stuff that are reviews of vintage manual typewriters and my search for the perfect machine. Part of my re-direction of the strop business is to allow myself more time to play with projects like this.
For those who think best on a manual typewriter rather than a computer should check my weekly vintage typewriter auctions on eBay. I'm also working on my other website, www.theqwertyshop.com
I find a manual machine slows me down, makes me think before sending my words to paper and actually reduces my typos. I type faster than I can think on a computer so my spelling becomes a nightmare when I try to post quickly.
Yes, there is another side to me than "stropmeister"

I've written some theater pieces, a few sketches, some adaptations, pretty much whatever I want to act in that I can't find already being done.

Thanked: 0I had 2 short stories published in an anthology, edited by a friend, so I'm not sure it counts. It was a not-for-profit deal, to raise money for Hurricane relief, so I didn't get any actual payment out of it.
If anyone wants to buy it, drop me a PM and I'll send a link.
I dabble here and there, but really don't have the attention span to write more than a few pages. A good friend of mine and I have been considering collaborating, but we still have to figure out what we're doing.
