54 MPG? Whoa, that's really good. My ride (a 2001 Fiat Palio Weekend with 73 horsepower) drinks around 6,5-7 litres per 100 kilometres (that's how we measure it here in Europe), that's around 35-37MPG. That's not really bad but not as good as it could be. But, well, I like cars with a large loading capacity

Not powder blue, more like a slate blue...Toyota calls the color Seaside Pearl (the title lists the color as 'Blue'...go figure
. Wanted the green one, but was looking at a month or more wait. This was the last Prius on almost anyone's lot within 150 miles of my home.
Please post the Jeff Dunham link; not familiar with the reference.
Cheers,
Ed

2003 Civic Hybrid here. Started at around 55 mpg, now down to 50. It still beats my cruiser bike. I get to ride in the HOV lane in both of them all alone though. Its a lot of fun whizzing by bumper to bumper traffic and yelling "youuuu suuuuck!"

See, now that's the way to do it. Do you guys also get rebates on the purchase price of hybrids? I think they do in Europe.
I've wanted either the Prius or the Civic hybrid for years, but they are very expensive in Australia. Even with the decreased fuel costs, you'd never recoup the extra "premium" placed on the hybrid prices - a small 4 cylinder car with equivalent levels of features sells for around AUD20-25K. The last time I looked, the Prius cost starts at close to AUD40K. Doesn't take a genius to work out why the uptake of hybrid technologies in Australia is so low.

I bought my Hybrid before it was cool and paid substatially less for it than a standard car. I got mine loaded for 19K. Everyone was still worried about reliability.
I was eligible for a tax break at the time but was too lazy and overpaid to worry about it.

One of my friends here in town built his own electric car. He used a Suzuki body, not sure what model it was tho, but he ripped out the engine and put an electric in, with tons of batteries in the back, pretty neat stuff. Shadetree mechanic electric car , but it works.

I just finished building a hydrogen booster for my truck. Going to install this coming weekend and make a few adjustments. A friend of mine helped me to test the unit and it produced under 80 liters a minute. This thing looks crazy when it's switched on. If all goes well with the installation then it'll be time for a road test. My truck is a Silverado with a 5.7 and gets around 20-22 MPG at the moment due to modifications I've done in the past. Can't wait to see what kind of mileage I get with the HB.
