Here's your sign... ?
Last night I was watching tv, and a couple of US stand up comedians were telling 'here's your sign' jokes.
I got the jokes (duh) but I didn't understand what the 'here's your sigh' stuff was about.
A quick google later I found this
snopes.com: Here's Your Sign
Now I have a habit of answering stupid questions with stupid answers like this, but I assume you don't actually say 'here's your sign' after giving the answer in such a situation?Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

I don't watch tv much. mostly on sunday evenings.
The tv is usually on in the evening, but to me it is more of a background thing. I use it more for listening than for watching.
I could easily go without tv, but my wife thinks different (I think it comes automatically with being married).
Maybe the minister should've given given me a sign when I said 'I do'Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

sometimes you do. I believe bill engvall originated this, but I might be mistaken. it's a pretty popular thing to say here in DFW.

Heres the bit Bill Engvall did where he explains what the sign is for.
YouTube - Bill Engvall-STUPID PEOPLE!
This is the origin of the joke. Its become so much a part of the culture that now he and others just say here's your sign when you make a stupid comment and we all get it.
Its his signature, kind of like Jeff Foxworthys "you might be a redneck"
Just like "wheres the beef" was in the 80's or "cha ching" in the ninties.
I love this bit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting. So you can say this without getting kicked in the teeth. who'd have tought.
I suppose it is something that everybody knows, and as such it is not an insult anymore.
