BTW-- the reference to the quote: "If the people were to ever find out what we have done, we would be chased down the streets and lynched." -- George H. W. Bush, cited in the June, 1992 Sarah McClendon Newsletter"--this appears to be an apophrycal quote, with no true corroboration. It's cited on a lot of fringe websites, but it doesn't appear to have any confirming source. Any idea if it's an accurate quotation?

    billyjeff2,

There's not a lot we agree on. But in all fairness, I have to say I respect your post! You surprise me...and I mean that in a good way.

    Regards,

    Jeeter

    Mr. DenMason,
I find myself in the unusual circumstance of agreeing completely with Mr. BillyJeff2.
Not going to happen. Are there perhaps people who would seek such things? sure. There are always all types of opinions even, I'll wager, in Washington. Rumors of cancelled elections are IMHO much like shouting fire in a theater, and are used to strike fear and more urgency in those with minds more open to the possibility of such things.
Not that we exactly have a great choice this year (both men could have been made using the same cookie cutter, but different dough), it is obvious the candidates are being "spoon fed" to us-but in all fairness the article you mention was from last year for starters, and its intent, IMHO, was to stir people up last year.
We have a lot of work in front of us as a country, and I wish we were in a better situation wrt which candidates we have (both parties...) but the work still needs to be done. Elections are still happening.
I'll even wager you a beer on it.

    John P.

Only that it was supposedly said to Sarah McClendon of the Washington White House Press Corps. I also thought it to be funny in a twisted sort of way. Not something you would actually see in newsprint, that's for sure.

Then there's a one term congressman (his name escapes me) who claims Geo HW Bush knowingly left behind scores of MIA's after the Vietnam war ended. That Geo. HW Bush sounds like one bad dude...

Well, I'll go make sure I have enough cash for beers for everyone here.
I think we hope that nothing like this would happen here. I do find it funny that in all of this land we only came up with these choices of candidates. Leaves me thinking somethings wrong here. Time will tell us as usual. Now, I'm back to another on going project.... reading H.R.3162 Whew!

Well, I can't find it now but a year or two ago some nutjob youtube prophet predicted that Bush would be elected to a third term. So maybe there will be an election, but it won't matter! (just like what a lot of people say happened eight years ago!)
