Thanked: 79In that case, we are in agreement on that last point. I don't believe there's anything to it at any rate. I know we had troops in Georgia but Georgia is helping in Iraq so it makes sense we would be conducting joint training, if only to reduce fratricide. At any rate, I would much rather this all simmer down than become a huge issue. I also wish we knew more about what was going on, there's a lot of pots calling kettles black over there, IMHO, and I'm sure the truth is somewhere in between. And has nothing to do with the U.S. OR Israel. Possibly a lot to do with oil (we Americans aren't the only ones who like it, apparently). Regardless its a mess.
Aww man. Come on.
oops. Thanks for the reminder BillyJeff2...
Almost forgot to mention the Bildebergers and the new world order....

Thanked: 271This article says that US planes are flying Georgian troops in the war zone:

This one says the US military has armed and trained Georgia:

Ok, I am truly sorry if I have offended, and obviously I have.
Mr. Horen, I too have enjoyed all of the knowledge that I have acquired and shared about straight shaving and that is really why we are all here. This site is truly an invaluable resource on the subject. I am sorry if my being a "bad apple" has spoiled that for you. I was a member here for a while before I decided to reply in the conversation and this is why. Again, I'm sorry I have offended you.
I am an agnostic, anarchist. I believe that power corrupts and I am against The State wherever it may control people. I have, and have had many friends of different religions and political affiliations. I do not hate anyone and I am not a bigot. I wish people would stop fighting everywhere, it will never solve anything. I have no religion and belong to no state and I don't want any of these wars being waged by various state powers and religious factions. Go figure!
Elections are a tool of the state to make the people think they have control.Last edited by davisbonanza; 08-11-2008 at 04:49 AM.

Thanked: 79Chimensch,
You complain about arguing facts, then post a bunch of articles which may or may not be relevant to the situation at hand in the first place.
You'll understand my tendency based on your previously exposed bias against the U.S. to completely disregard your argument...after all, if a glass of milk is spilled in China you would claim it was somehow the U.S. or Israel's fault, based on your previous posts, but here goes anyway.
There is simply not enough information coming out of Ossetia of an unbiased nature to guess what is really going on. There has been work with Georgian troops in Iraq; claiming the US is helping Georgia fight Russians is a different story. If Georgia manages to get accepted into NATO, things may change WRT that, of course.
Articles claiming the US armed Georgia are true to an extent but saying "to fight Russia"goes far far far out on a limb.
Georgian troops are in Iraq and are the third largest contributor of troops to that effort. In some cases they do work with US units and it would not surprise me in the least if they had been given newer weapons for Iraq in exchange for their efforts there. They wouldn't be the only ones who said "We'll help, but we need better equipment, can you help us in return...?". So making this jump is not founded in logic and would be akin to saying Belgium and Germany armed the US to go to Iraq. After all, we do use Belgian designed machine guns, German submachine guns and sidearms, and oh wait, Italian sidearms.
capiche?
That's a far cry from saying "here's a gun, go shoot some Russians" as the headlines seem to claim.
Headlines in these cases are designed to anger you into purchasing the newspaper/magazine/etc and not to tell you the real truth.
Likewise headlines saying "US Aircraft take Georgian troops into battle" is meanlingless unless the context is given.
If, as one is meant to believe, it says US aircraft are taking Georgians to fight Russians, my instinct is to say "hogwash."
On the other hand, if one says Georgia has US made airplanes and is using them to fight Russians-that would be completely different. So far as I know the only Georgian troops going into battle on actual US military aircraft-are in Iraq. Whole different country.
Our pilots aren't allowed to do the things you seem to think we do against Russia, without a presidential order or a congressional declaration of war on Russia, neither of which has happened.
The only *possible* exception is that all US forces are allowed to defend themselves when directly attacked, which to my knowledge, also has not happened. Nothing in there about deploying Georgian troops against Russia.
The stories are IMHO cobbled together by those who want to feed their subscription rates with money from people such as yourself who are quick to swallow every negative story about America or Israel or (here you go BillyJeff2) the Bildebergers or whoever else they can. Doesn't matter the context of the story; once you buy the paper to see what it says-you've already bought the paper.
This time it is RUSSIA going after a country that has oil-and yet people STILL somehow want to blame US.
Give it a break. For once it has nothing to do with us OR Israel. Enjoy your life in Italy. The America you seem to enjoy hating was 40 years ago. Believe it or not, Washington does not have a monopoly on evil, surprising as that may seem to some.
If I am wrong about you and your bias, then I apologize and gladly look forward to any evidence to the contrary. I don't agree with quite a few people here; which is quite ok. It is this odd bent of yours that everything is America's fault, or that all negative rumors are automatically true, which I do not understand.

Thanked: 4Don't apologize. With the exception of the statement about Israel's government being installed by the US, your comments were appropriate and in my opinion, entirely correct.
Mr. Horen, I find your little diatribe to be hysterical, childish, and not in keeping with the spirit of this forum. I have enjoyed your contributions and camaraderie, but today sir, you diminished my enjoyment of this forum as you have accused the two gentlemen you called out of doing to you. I do not intend to tell the mods their business, but in my opinion your insults are worthy of a little time out.
