    Thanks, James.

Here's my next one. This movie is a milestone on epic sci-fi, should be easy to you:

There is something very Orson Wells about it. Is it '1984'?

EDIT: Ockham are you guessing 'Metropolis' because the picture is saved as 'Metropolis'?

Nope... I didn't even think about looking at the name under which the file was saved. I remember seeing this old movie - if I remember well it was shot in the mid 20ies - quite long ago... but I am not sure... but surely Leon will bring us the answer

You are correct. It's Metropolis by Fritz Lang, made in 1927. IMHO, it's one of the best movies ever made for so many reasons. It's a sci-fi movie ahead of it's time - we're talking about sci-fi special effects from the 20's!
I had to put an image that wasn't too obvious, so I picked a shot of the city. If I posted an image of the female robot, everyone should have guessed it right away:

    Ockham, your turn!

actually, leon, i'm pretty sure it was the first sci-fi film EVER made! great movie, though. the remake wasn't half bad either.

Well, in the silent movies era, there were some movies that can be called sci-fi. Remember that one the a capsule is launched to the Moon through a cannon? And the Moon has a human face? That movie is about 100 years old.

Any hints Ockham? Or another pic? That one seems a bit obscure to me. I cant work out who the actor is....
