Y For Yellow Coticule A very versatile natural hone, that is considered by many to be the only stone necessary for keeping a razor in shaving shape... The coticule can become three different stones in one, used with slurry, used with just plain water, and used almost dry to gives three separate scratch patterns and sharpness factors.....

Thanked: 271C - Carborundum a brand of hone. Carborundum is also a brand of abrasive. It has been immortalized in a fake Latin saying used, in one variant, as the signature of user Utopian, Illigitimum non carborundum, Don't let the bastard(s) grind you down.

Thanked: 131H is for Head. As in "Glen has a big head."
but seriously....
H is for Hone- A utensil- often stone- used for sharpening the straight razor. The roughness of a hone is measured in levels of grit, with a low number being coarse and higher levels being smoother. rougher grits remove material from your razor, finer stones are used to apply a finished edge.
