Just to add some clarification, you can start a social group, but everything you do is public. There can be no private forums.

Maybe I misunderstood cazadorcovey. I was not thinking of anything private or removed from the rest of the SRP society. I was thiking of it like the 'Daffy Ducks' and 'Butcher Block' clubs. I do not consider being a Mason or a Shrinner a secret, just the traditions in the meetings. The Shriners are a club of Freemasons and we support the Children's Hospitals with free care to children whose parents can not afford proper treatment. Ever been to s Shriner's Circus. THe clowns are a club in the Shriners as are the Shriners you may see on parades.
I do understand the perception of secrecy associated with Freemasons by the general population and based on this perception maybe a club of this nature is not a good idea. Sorry if I offended anyone by supporting this club. Our ideas of the club may have differed.

Thanked: 335Hello brother Covey,
I, too, am a Mason, and a Shriner up here in the soon to be re-frozen tundra of Minnesota; I've even tried a bit of practical masonry with some block and brick laying and have learned that is work much better left to the professionals.

I too have traveled. I have also been across the hot sands. I like the idea of a group. Not a secret one just a group. One like the razor clubs.

Thank you all for your replies. Yes, indeed, not a secret group, but one like the ones devoted to razors of a specific brand or country of origin. In those groups you have that common bond in razors, but in the one I propose the common bond would be brotherhood (and I suppose in a figurative way, blood brothers due to the implement at hand)

I am sure most Freemasons would welcome interest from masons and non-masons alike. In the same way I am sure we would all like to see some new members coming through the doors of our Lodges. Many Lodges in the UK have started to hold 'open days' where prospective members or even the simply curious can learn more about freemasonry.
