i think i understand and sympathize with you here. i will not tell anyone how to act or think when it comes to there race, as i only have point of view ( i am a Metis which is half french half Ojibwe in my case, though my friends constantly tell me how "white" i look). that being said i sometimes here people talk about subjects like this and almost have a reverse-racism (please don't think i am saying your wife is one of these people) where they claim to want equality but really don't. i would never downplay what racism and segregation have done to people in the past, but from my point of view shouldn't we look at situations like this as a positive because of who the guy is first, and then secondly celebrate the fact that the country (and yes i realize i am Canadian but lets be honest, the US has a huge influence and effect on me, so i do pay attention) as a whole is in a place where racism is taking a backseat if any seat to the real issues. i look at Barack Obama as a new type of politician who might actually change some things, and after that a symbol to all minorities rather then just black people. that is just my take though so if anyone is offended (though i'm not sure why they would be) please diregard it.

oh and if i could have i would have voted for Obama, and i did keep up to date with the election (via my satellite radio and some TV coverage) , almost more then my own election that we just had that proved nothing (again just my opinion)
