Thanked: 335Carpenter and cabinet maker, now the carpentry, painting, and plastering shop supervisor for my state's Dept of Administration. We take care of all the buildings in our Capitol complex, about 4.4 million sf.
Considering how most things tend to sink to the lowest level, I also get asked about figuring out stone masonry, brick and block laying, cement finishing, a bit of pattern making, and a dab of metal casting. Right now I'm a drafting tech. It's funny how shapes become ambiguous in the murky depths of the lowest level, which I often liken to a septic tank.
And I'm old enough to retire (62); which prospects are looking better and better every day.

I thought I had posted on this thread but apparently not. I was a union ironworker (steel erection) for twenty years and have been a professional tattoo artist for the past 20. At 60 when I am not working or honing razors I like to ride bicycles out in the woods.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I work in publishing -- we specialise in books by Gormless Twits (Academic variety). So if you know of any, please send them my way, Jimbo.
I specialise in digital publishing: ebooks, websites, Google, etc. But personally, I still love print on paper.

Regulatory enforcement for a provincial ministry for the last 5 years, prior to that 15 years in the automotive industry as a metallurgist, quality/reliability engineer and quality manager. It looks like I picked a good time to get out of the automotive business.

I'm a carpenter. With a business partner, i own my own company. We mostly build schools, but everything else too.
I like being my own boss, but it can exert stress that those employed by others just don't appreciate!
