I have no idea how Americans would call a cigarette with weed or marihuana as one of the ingredients
So pot cigarette seemed like a good choice to explain what I meant.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Thanked: 586I think cops should go that extra mile. Show some initiative. Be self starters and finishers. Why tie up the courts with foolish trials of pesky repeat suspects? Isn't it more efficient for a cop to continue down that old road to justice by moonlighting as judge, jury and executioner as well as police officer? If a cop isn't supposed to shoot anyone he feels needs shooting, then why did the people entrust him with a firearm in the first place?

Well, I don't know how I feel about policiticians of any sort meddling with the justice system (isn't justice supposed to be blind? Hence the statue?). That said, it seems to me that other law enforcement officers have done much worse, but for one reason or another weren't ever investigated or charged.
Two-years for shooting someone in the butt (especially a illegal immigrant and drug smuggler) seems fair to me though.

There are only three instances where an LEO can use his weapon; in defense of his own life, another LEO's life and an innocent third party. If someone is committing a crime and runs you had better be fleet of foot because thats the only way you are going to catch him. You can't shoot at a fleeing felon unless he is shooting at you. Once he turns and runs the threat is over.
Of course there are always crazy situations that may come up but that's the problem with being a LEO. You have seconds at best to make a decision and then panels of experts spend months analyzing what you did from their offices.
However in this case the patrol Agent apparently saw this guy running with the vehicle parked nearby and the second guy arrived at the scene and started shooting once he saw the first guy shooting. The bad guy had no gun and was not shooting at them. training tells you when you arrive at the scene where action is already going on you take cover and access the situation. The bad guy was running for the border which was right there.
These guys worked for the Border Patrol in the El Paso District which is part of Homeland Security which used to be the INS. I was a Special Agent for the INS in the El Paso District. I worked along the border many times. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

The only mistake they made was not to put a knife in the hands of the bad guy, and claim self defense.
Now they're free as they deserve.
