Two trains are heading directly toward each other on adjacent tracks.
Roger is on one train traveling at 100 metres per second (mps) and Greg is on another train traveling at 200mps.
Roger has a lamp. The speed of the light from his lamp is 299,792,458mps.
Additionally, Roger is also running at a velocity of 10mps on his train in the direction that the train is travelling, in the direction of Greg.
At what total speed is the light from Roger's lamp traveling toward Greg?

Sorry x, I skipped the rest of the details. If you'll allow me to assume that the speed of light is as you say while traveling through the same medium, then the speed of light is constant and does not change so I guess the answer to the riddle is 299,792,458mpsQuote:

If two spacecraft move apart, each at speed 0.75 of the speed of light, their relative speed is 1.5 times the speed of light. Yet physicists claim that each each can see the other moving away at 1.5 speed of light despite light itself only moving at one times the speed of light.

Rhetorical question, not a riddle for the thread. :D
What you do is, you create a model of how the Universe works. Then, you code that into a computer. Then, you simulate. Then, you notice your simulations are not quite right. So, you tinker some more with the code. Then, when it appears that you cannot fix it, you decide to give the difference between what you expect and what the computer spits out a name, like so:Quote:
