I say we're mostly men here, and we are allowed to share our views, whatever they may be. That's what makes a man a man: being able to say whatever he feels. Doing so eloquently, however, is the mark of a gentleman.
I don't see it that way. Since I quoted someone I felt it was appropriate.

I totally agree. In fact my wife is right when she criticizes me about 10% of the time.

Sounds about right. You are even showing largesse about the issue.....

You, Sir, are a true Man!!!

I have the same issue. My wife is right in her criticism the same 10% of the time.

However, it turns out I can only listen attentively to about 90% of an argument, so I miss most of the salient points....

    Default Man's man.

A man's man should be trained in fencing, boxing and music. :P

    Just kidding

I agree with the more or less general consensus. To be a man your word should be your word. You should have to swear to nothing and convince no one of your sincerity, yes is simply yes and no is simply no. Apart from that, you should not willingly allow anything you feel is wrong to transpire.

Nothing else is really applicable, what you drive, your interests, none of that can ever make you a man.

Unless of course you just mean the John Wayne he's a man's man stereotype, which is more fun. :P In that case you need to watch Army of Darkness, as Ash is the very definition of a man's man. You should be able to fight evil Zombies and when you travel back in time, drop scatching one liners like crazy. Like if someone tries to impress you by telling you they're the ruler of this country, remind them that they're ruler of two thinks jack and sh*t, and Jack just left town. If you're asking if all men from the future are loud mouth braggarts, be sure to reply "Just me baby, just me."

Then and only then will you be a man's man. A term that does, ironically make you sound gay.

X, you're the best, and entirely right. A man's man can start a chainsaw with his teeth!

Typically what people think of as a man's man is a set of skills and abilities. Besides having good character traits, I've found a man's man to be the guy that can use tools (including power tools), keep his automobiles in shape, be charming, teach effectively, listen effectively, pick up almost any gun and be able to hit a reasonable target, and build a structure.

So many men today are simply frightened of things like tools, cars, and guns, when there's nothing to fear at all. I guess it works out though- the working man who isn't afraid of this stuff will forever be making money off these types.

    Well said!

A man SHOULD be able to do the stuff you said, and over the course of their life, do the following at least once:

Change the oil on their car (themselves!)
    Fire a gun
    Sharpen a knife
    shave (duh)
Teach a younger man / child / son what traits a man has (his character, etc...)
Go camping (and also start a fire)
    Go hiking / rock climbing

There's probably a ton to be mentioned... Oh, throw a baseball, a football, shoot a basketball, kick a soccer ball, and dive into the water from something that's not a diving board (such as a rock / bridge / something).

in addition to Kipling's "If" that Brad posted... i think the song below is a decent guide... basically be of good character and do your best... all the rest is nothing.
