Batman Dies of Heroin O.D..
I'm not remotely into sports; however this story really got my attention. Link
This is such a tragic example of the pettiness we all face in life every day. What a pathetic thing to have to happen to a human being!

Truely sick and demonstrates what is the poorest thing about sports.
Athletes are paid to be athletes, they are treated like horses in a horse race. When they are no longer useful they are shot.
In this case the bullet was $665 worth of bats.

That is sad. I hadn't heard of him as I don't follow sports. Hate to see anyone go that way.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

This is a shame! Unfortunately most of the guys/gals who were stars in HS or College are led to believe that they are a "can't miss". Most never experience failure on any level growing up as they are usually superior to most in athletic prowess. It is not until they reach major college or the pro's that they realize that everyone there was the "can't miss" prospect and that failure is a real possibility. If that happens, most do not know how to deal with it as they are adults who have never experineced this feeling before and feel like they let everyone down. From there it's a tough road that can lead to several things.
Again, very tragic that a young guy lost his life, no matter what the circumstances.

I'm surprised the league allowed this. But...this guy had demons before the trade. Would he have done any better if his contract had been sold for a grand? Or if he had just been cut? I don't know, but there is just something "wrong" about trading a player for a handful of bats.

I actually read the article.
a) he wasn't really good
b) he lived for his music, and missed practise and even games
c) he had significant issues before the bat swap. Furthermore, his 'trade value' if I can call it like that was not a 1000$. the bats were worth 600 something $.
So imo the story is blown out of proportion, and he would have committed suicide with or without the bat story. **** happens, and blaming his death on a single thing that was not really that bad in unrealistic.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
