That, my friends, is Valleys. No I do not understand it either most of the time. Unfortunately my daughter is growing up speaking it
it's from monty python and the holy grail, which is 90% of the exposure us colonials get to british accents. (the other 10% being that asshole robin leach)

Who the hell is Robin Leach? Apart from being an arsehole obviously

What about Ozzy? That is a terrible Brummy accent to which I believe you have had exposure.

Just used it. I asked SWMBO if she was ever a dozy tart...

She said, "I'm not sure what that is, but I do think I know what "tart" means." So I backpedaled as fast as I could and said, "Never mind, I just read on the internet that it is a common British term of endearment." Close one!

he's the guy that hosted lifestyles of the rich and famous in the 80s.

I don't know that "slurred speech due to excessive drug use" is a speech disorder, but Ozzy does happen to be British as well. It's strange, because the man can sing just like he could back in the 70's, but he can't ever seem to get out even a single coherent sentence.

This is quite normal driving behavior in Bangkok. I see things as bad if not worse every day. Just the other day I saw a very fat man (he would have to have been upwards of 100kg) riding a 100cc motorcycle which is designed to carry only about 60kg. He was riding with one hand and in the other hand he held a new born baby. This is the Land of Smiles, not the land of intligence.

Whew--well, look at it this way--she's growing up bilingual.

Well she goes to Welsh speaking school, so she can happily jabber away in Welsh, English & Valleys. They are seen as separate languages around here. How on earth have I ended up with a trilingual five year old?

The thing is, Ozzy does have a strong Brummie accent still. If you hear him in interviews from the 70s, he is only slightly less slurred but a lot more nasally whining. Jockeys, you do realise that you have mortally offended England's second city & all of its inhabitants.

dunno what the second city is but as an American, isn't it my duty to offend foreigners with my ignorance and obtuse nature at every chance?
