Are these two different guys? Or did you get a little less clean and sober between 12:10 and 1:33 (my time)?

Wow, I answered number one, don't know any from either side, and think it's weird that you know so many. Now, after reading this post through, I feel like it's weird that I don't. I don't think any of my friends or people I regularly spend time with do either, though Maybe I'm too young, at 26? Or maybe I have a way too sheltered life.

It is surprising that around 75% of voters in this poll have had a brush with murder. I'm hoping it isn't statistically representative though.

Then again, if you subscribe to the six degrees of separation theory, maybe it isn't so surprising after all.

I have known two couples who fit into this thread. Both husbands killed their respective wives. One then turned the gun on himself and the other was put to death by the State.
Both wives were Sweethearts! The man who was executed was a real piece of work. The other man completely surprised me. He and his wife seemed to get along famously. I would have never dreamed that they would die in a murder/suicide.
I have also known five people who committed suicide and another who tried to.
EDIT: I just remembered a man I used to know who laid in wait for his father and shotgunned him to death. Eli was never remorseful for the killing.

Yes, quite a few. Here are a couple that come to mind:

My uncle (Mom's brother) was having dinner at a restaurant with his wife, when a paid hitman walked up to him and shot him in the head. I was 15, and I remember rushing to the hospital where he was brought.

My best friend's driver/bodyguard aka aide was a notorious member of liquidation squad (this is not in the US), credited with more than 50 political assassinations. The guy is ordinary, even of small stature. It's his blank, cold stare that gives me the creeps.

I guess what is "normal" or what is "weird" depends on when, where and who you are.

    Default Too Many

My brother was shot 5 times over a foul in a pick up basket ball game. My best friend was murdered in college because he would not admit someone inappropriately dressed to a frat party. The list goes on. Too painful.

I also bought some guitars off a friend of my dad's who once beat a man to death in a drunken rage outside a bar. He wanted to get rid of the gear to try and forget about it. I doubt it worked. Really morose guy. Spent 5 years in prison for admitting to the deed when nobody knew it was him.

A friend of mine was killed in her apartment in Oak Park, IL in 1979.

An acquaintance was at a party at Berkley in the late 60s. He passed out and when he came to, he was in jail for murder. He didn't remember anything. Apparently, someone had spiked the punch. So he go off, but the guy that spiked the punch did time.

A friend's son is doing 25 years for a murder committed during a robbery. The son was just trying to knock the victim out, but held the pillow over his face too long.

And I know too many people killed by drunk drivers to list them here.

As a kid (14) I knew a murderer (16) who killed her mother and brother because they didn't like her boyfriend. Stabbed and bludgeoned them to death. Her name was Brenda Wiley and she is locked up in NJ Woman's Correctional Facility. Seemed like a normal girl, nothing dark and sinister really. I also know a girl whose daughter's father, grandfather and aunt were all killed in there apt. All gunned down. The grandfather was shot in the front seat of his car in the driveway, then the aunt and girl's dad were gunned down in the house. The grandfather hung halfway out of the car in the drive all night long. Sad story for sure. It involved drugs.
