Smoking Smarties is kewl!

There are a growing number of kids and teens out there that are crushing up the Smarties candies, pulling the dust into their mouths, and then exhaling the dust to emulate smoking. Nope I’m not kidding. The side affects include, but are not limited to: infections, chronic coughing, choking and even maggots feeding off sugary dust in your nose. I’m seriously not kidding.

Let's face it: the kids are getting cooler and dumber by the second!

I recall being even more stupid at his age and inhaling the smoke from freshly lit strike anywhere matches. That was 30+ years ago. Between the two the maggots in the nose are probably less harmful.

As a friend of mine used to say,"You can always tell a kid, but you can't tell him much." When I was in my early teens I knew a kid who used to soak transmission fluid in a rag, put it in a paper bag, and inhale the fumes. I believe that through doing it often he gave himself permanent brain damage. So these kids could be worse. Let's hope they don't graduate to bigger and worse things.

Same principle as glue sniffing. And yes, it damages the brain.

The biggest problem is that the kid thinks he looks cool. A joint for him is letting the smoke "roll out", not getting high (he wouldn't even know what getting high is).

there were candy ciggs when i was a kid, but all the cool kids (myself included) just smoked real ones. as bad as candy is for your lungs, i'm pretty sure cowboy killers are worse, hmm?

I find it ironic that he is crushing the smarties on top of a dictionary. I suppose that's the best use these kids have for them...
