Who do you Think is the Best James Bond
Personally, I like Pierce the most. It's probably largely because Golden Eye was the first Bond film I saw, and I think GE was well done. While I do agree that Sean is awesome, I personally see Bond as a younger man. I also think that being so young, I can't help but see Bond as more "modern."
What are your thoughts?

Connery>Dalton>Brosnon>Moore. I haven't seen a Lazenby Bond yet. I love Daniel Craig, but his films are so different, they're hard to compare to the originals.

Thanked: 278I'm going to go with Connery. But it has to be said the script and direction play a large part in this. Craig would be great in a great Bond movie, Connery would have been bad in a bad one.
Don't mention Zardoz!

I agree with Jockeys that Craig is the most like the psycho in Ian Fleming's books. Fleming's Bond was a mad dog playboy loner without all the fancy equipment. He terminated problems up close and personal. However, the Bond movies are all very Hollywood. They share the titles and a few characters, but the books are vastly different than the movies. The movies, even Craig's "Casino Royale", are all toned down PC versions of the books.
That said, Connery is Bond for me. I was an impressionable teen when I saw my first Bond movie, "Thunderball" and I hadn't read the books.

While I respect your opinion, I have to disagree. Can't be a better Bond than Connery. I appreciate all the others, but as with everything, there is only one original.
The Man With The Goden Gun was my first Bond movie, in the theater. For a long time it was my favorite, going back and forth between that and The Spy Who Loved Me. I was a huge sucker for the Lotus Esprit Turbo, and the underwater scene.
Now, with one on every other night on cable, I've seen them all so many times, I've become a huge fan of Sean Connery's Bond movies. Goldfinger was his best movie, BTW.

For me, Sean Connery is James Bond
I never read the books, and although the other Bonds are and were entertaining, I always measured them against Sean ConneryFind me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

Connery is bond--no doubts. Just...yeah.
HOWEVER, Craig as the new Bond is awesome...it's just like a new identity, a total reboot. I loved Casino Royale, and I really can't wait to see Quantum of Solace.
But yeah, Connery's cool made Bond for me.

I agree. Craig's Bond is just entirely different. I'm hoping that with the resolution he gets in QoS, he'll lighten up a little. They need to be careful, otherwise they'll just turn him into Jason Statham, a la Transporter.
Connery was just such a definition of what Bond embodies in the movies: handsome, humorous, resourceful, and witty. Brosnan was fantastic, but there toward the end, the movies were just silly.
