Thanked: 1262Both of these! A few months ago i bought the zippo "stick" or whatever its called, marketed towards camping.
Refuelable butane, works great. i use it mostly for starting the grill/camp fires/candles. Everything zippo makes is solid.
Weber... I can not put into words how much i love this classic grill
Grilled out the last 2 days, since the weather has been nice.
Nothing better than smoking a cigar, drinking a good bourbon/scotch and charcoal grilling.

My apologies Bill, I now realize I read carelessly and answered a question you didn't ask...
To make amends, I'll name three things that never fail to produce a smile and convey a feeling of priviledge and immense luxury to have and use them:
- the Sheaffer Crest fountain pens. Their cigar shape is simply perfect. The clip design actually works. They never blot, they always work, the ink flow is invariably smooth and even. I like them so much, I bought three of them so there's always one ready in black, blue and red ink.
- my design vintage stove-top espresso maker. Simple materials, simple design, simple technique. Okay, what my full-automatic coffee-grinder-espresso-machine produces could in all objectivity be classed 'even tastier' - but nothing beats the feeling it gives to use the vintage one. And rather unlike its uncouth modern young nephew, the only sound it produces is a gentle throttle to announce it has effortlessly accomplished its task once again, as if hushing 'ahem, coffee is being served, Sir'.
- an old tailor-made shirt. It has just the right cloth (a herring bone combed Sea Island cotton), just the right hue of baby blue with a nice sheen, and exactly the right fit - as if it was 'poured around me' as we say here. Even ironing it is fun. I dread the day it will really be to tattered to wear...

Thanked: 278Maybe I'm ignoring your "Not so much the usual stuff" here but...
Your own body, when it's working well, is something to appreciate.
I've had a few minor ailments in my time. Nothing serious, just stuff that made me feel really grotty or in pain for a few days. And when those things finally cleared I felt great. Really great. Like a giant. Like bullets would bounce off me. Like Superman. The contrast between being ill and being healthy is that great. And it occurred to me that you take that feeling of being healthy for granted - except for those times when you've been reminded of it.
So, here's to you, body. Thanks for having me!

Driving up to the mountains to see my dad, with a peanut butter milkshake huge enough to last me the whole way there.

Thanked: 52A nice dinner on friday night just me and my wife after a long week at work. Baked salmon, sauteed veggies, bottle of Wisconsin wine. And then a night cap of a movie laying on the couch with a nice Port wine to sip on.
On a daily basis it is usually a tough, sweat filled, gruelling weight training workout. That usually sets my mind at ease.
