Allready rubbed my hands all over the pipe to darken it up some.. once it heats up it should start looking good.

Close up of the "stamp". i spend about $20 more than i was going to spend. but i like the way this pipe felt in my hand.

With Meerschaum, touching the pipe with your hands or otherwise getting it dirty can affect the uniformity of the color it takes with time. I have heard different things about the extent to which the color can be affected and under what conditions it can safely be touched (clean hands, when cool, with a clean cloth, etc). Regardless, I'm willing to bet that any sufficiently old and well smoked meerschaum will take a nice even color. That said, I don't touch the bowls of mine.

This thread made me get out my nearly forgotten CAO meerschaum, a half bent bulldog. Loaded it up with my favorite aromatic Mac Baren "Vanilla Cream."

Smoked a bowl last night.. Very relaxing. I think it was the first time i have smoked a pipe in over 2 years!!!
/i wish i realized how my tobacco i still had before i bought more.

At least, as things go, pipe tobacco is pretty cheap. I store mine in mason jars, and it keeps very well. I've actually got an ounce of each of two blends that is just about to turn a year old... Originally Posted by Slartibartfast
