Do you mean the Mini Cooper 'S' which was 1275 or the Mini Cooper which was 998. Drive either of them now and they'd feel dated. They were fun and quite nimble 40 yrs ago. Bit like me really. In the UK the awesome cars of the sixties were the Sunbeam Tigers, AC Cobras and in a different way, the Lotus Super Seven. Not counting Ferraris and such because they were mainly the province of the very wealthy.

I have had alot and I drive 99 cherokee daily now but this one has survived my late teens and my 20s and almost 40 years since it was built. I bought it when I was 18 dated and married my wife in it and drag raced it. Its had several engines all of wich I changed just for more HP. I also have a 1964 Chevy II Nova but no pics its mainy for drag racing.

This is a Ford 351 Windsor it has under the hood now.....

    "You Are What You Drive"

Well, I recently retired a 1988 Dodge Baptist church van (extended death trap) w/300,00 miles after 6 years of service and doubled my money at the junk yard. What's another word for un-green vehicle. It's been replaced with a 1991 1 ton Chevy box that had to be towed home its first time to the flea market. Fortunatly I had only made it five miles before it died. I hope I'm not characterised as derelict as my vehicles. My other truck is a bright orange 1993 Chevy 1 ton diesel utility retired from the local park service. I sure do feel butch behind the wheel of that beast. I usually drive my wifes Tracker, for economy.

I got chills up and down my spine just listening to that, and I drooled all over my keyboard.

Thank's! You have no idea how many hours has went into paint/body and motor/drivetrain. And Scouts are some what of a acquired taste and most scout guys are purist so I caught a little Shiz about the Ford engine. But I had alot of aftermarket parts so I could not resist. Its not cheap but its been alot of fun and diff.

The audio on that vid sucks but its all I had.

    Default Fordillac

I remember when in the early 50's I would spend the summers with my grandfaather on his farm in rural northeast Alabama.
There were several gentlemen in the untaxed spirits distribution business.
When the 40 to 48 model flathead fords became outdated, they switched to the 49 to 54 Fords and placed Cadillac engines in them They were bored out, Isky cam installed, 2 four barrels on a weiand intake manifold, Mallory Ignition and open dual exhaust.
They called them Fordillacs and they would run.
We preteen boys were fascinated by the cars and the men who drove them.
When discussing the cars we would say things like:

That thing will hunt the other end of the road.

Man you can look in your rearview mirrow and see where you have been.

When they get after _______ he just puts in second gear and lets it eat.

When we would observe a speed shift, the comment was, " That man knows how to swap cogs.

I remember being in bed at night and hearing one of those Fordillacs coming through the hills with those smthy mufflers moaning.

It was a far simpler time that i will always remember.

I never did get around to building my FORDILLAC.
