I'm an independent voter- not registered to any group. I am pretty liberal though. In terms of what I've seen in this thread, I think joesixpack is pretty much nailing it. I have always liked the thought of owning a gun but never really tried acting on it. For the first time in my life a couple weeks back I went with a friend to his gun club. It's a private club with a limited membership and lies on about 80 acres of land. We shot lots of pistols and ended it up with some trap. I had a BLAST no pun intended. Because of that, it pretty much kickstarted my mind into a gun buying phase. I'm hopefully going tomorrow to get my "blue card" (to buy a pistol). If republicans want liberals to embrace gun ownership then show them the benefits outside of self defense- sport, fun, engineering, etc.
As for ammo shortage I can definitely buy the 'manufactured shortage' argument, but I personally have no basis for any explanation. Kind of sucks for everyone really, and I do hope HR 45 and any other liberal anti-gun laws do not pass. I'm gonna need some ammo soon (for the range- because I just like to shoot)!

When I lived in RI I used to go to the AFS (American Firearms School) just over the border into MA. Keep in mind that with a RI permit, you may not stop in MA with a gun in your car, except AT the range. Technically, I believe that even stopping for gas is would be a (again, technically) violation of the rules as written. I am not admitted in RI or MA, so this is completely lay-opinion. Nice range, great group of guys used to be there...hope they still are. Also sell pistols on consignment, bought my first kimber from them!
