Demographics of the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
in the interests of fairness the 9 justices should be comprised thusly:
6.45 white people
1.15 hispanic people
1.1 black people
0.3 asian people
of which 4.725 should be men, and 4.275 should be women (by the 2007 data)
or maybe, just maybe, the color of your skin and your gender have nothing to do with your ability to be a judge.

Back when I was in Elementary School a long time ago there used to be this block on the report card which said "works and plays well with others". The are participants in this thread who are not working and playing well with others. If you wish to discuss the subject, fine. keep the subtle and not so subtle insults and innuendos out.
Otherwise the cold hard hand of the mod will come down without mercy on any offenders. Rest assured it will be exercised in a non sexist, non discriminatory fashion. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I was simply pointing out a double standard. (and thanked Jockeys too boot)
Seems you can't mention someones race unless they did something good.
Did something bad? Oh no.
But she can talk about race.
She can even talk about how one is better at something than another.
Jimmy the Greek comes to mind here.
Of course that was probably true.
Were her opinions true?
A Latina can make better decisions than a white man?
REALLY?
"Oh but race doesn't matter!!"
Really?
seems it does to her....Last edited by gratewhitehuntr; 05-28-2009 at 01:01 AM.

Thanked: 6I'm sorry but this entire government is going to the toilet. We have a socialist president who wishes to strip Americans of their natural born rights...
AND..
He would rather appoint someone to the US Supreme Court who interprets law based on "Empathy" and "Their Feelings" than on the true interpretation of the US Constitution. Correct me if I am wrong, but last time I checked the Sup. Court's job WAS TO TRANSLATE THE CONSTITUTION...
I'm sorry, but I'm so sick of all the bull**** going on in America.
and call me racist or what have you...but the "First Latina Supreme Court Justice" is just icing on the the big cluster f#ck we call America...not because of the color of her skin, but because we have a "semi-black president" trying to confirm a "elitist Hispanic" woman judge into the highest court in America... but its OK as long as white people aren't choosing colors for the nation's highest offices...right?
Give me a damn break....I'm moving to Switzerland...lol...
Sorry...I get real fired up about politics...you know, since our Commander-In-Chief is trying everything in his power to cut my beloved defense budget and cripple our defenses to the point that a service member such as myself cant even get a re-enlistment bonus anymore because hes too busy giving billions of dollars to corporations that should just go bankrupt already and finally learn a lesson about smart business practices....because you know...god forbid we hold anyone accountable for their actions...that would just be re-god-dang-diculous.

Oh my goodness! Have you been to Switzerland? It's a beautiful place, but I think you'll find it quite socialized: medicine, government owned railroads, government paid for higher education. Then again, the Europeans tend to be more careful about who gets to own guns. Then there's that tax rate on everything to support that socialized medicine and the trains that run on time and at high speed.
Lot of luck!
